Map your degree to SOC codes
PERM filings require your degree field to directly support the job's specialty occupation classification. Integration Engineer roles typically map to SOC 15-1252 or 15-1299. Confirm your degree aligns before applying, or document how your coursework covers the technical requirements the employer will certify.
Target employers with active PERM histories
Companies that have filed PERM applications for integration or systems engineer roles before have cleared the internal legal approvals needed to sponsor again. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify employers with recent PERM certifications in this occupation rather than guessing from job postings alone.
Search for sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Integration Engineer positions filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to roles where sponsorship is uncertain. Filter by EB-2 or EB-3 eligibility to narrow your search to positions that match your credentials.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility early
If your Integration Engineer role requires a master's degree or you can document progressive responsibility equivalent to an advanced degree, EB-2 may shorten your wait significantly depending on your country of birth. Confirm with your prospective employer's immigration counsel before your offer letter is drafted.
Negotiate PERM filing into your offer terms
Employers aren't required to commit to a PERM timeline in an offer letter, but you can ask. Request that the offer specify when PERM filing will begin after your start date. Early filing matters because priority date cutoffs for nationals of India and China can create multi-year waits at the I-485 stage.
Preserve your I-140 approval if you change jobs
Once your I-140 is approved and has been pending for 180 days, you can port your priority date to a new employer in the same or similar occupational classification under AC21 portability rules. Integration engineering roles that share SOC codes with your certified PERM position typically qualify, protecting years of queue time.
Green Card Integration Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Integration Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Integration Engineer positions typically qualify for EB-3 when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. EB-2 applies if the role requires a master's degree or the equivalent in specialized experience. The employer's PERM application must document those minimum requirements consistently in the job description and recruitment process.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an Integration Engineer?
H-1B visa is a temporary status capped at 85,000 new visas per year and subject to an annual lottery. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The tradeoff is timeline: the PERM recruitment and audit process alone takes six to twelve months before USCIS even receives your I-140 petition.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for this role?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for the Integration Engineer position at the prevailing wage. PERM requires specific advertising steps, a defined recruitment period, and documentation of every application reviewed. The employer submits the ETA 9089 form to DOL, and approval typically takes six to eighteen months depending on whether the case is audited.
Where can I find Integration Engineer jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Integration Engineer openings by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you can focus applications on companies that have already completed PERM filings for similar roles. This saves time compared to contacting employers individually to confirm whether they're willing and able to sponsor before the interview stage.
Can I switch employers after my I-140 is approved without losing my place in line?
Yes. Once your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days, AC21 portability lets you transfer your priority date to a new employer sponsoring you in the same or a similar occupational classification. Integration engineering roles in systems integration, API development, or middleware typically share enough overlap in SOC codes to qualify, but you'll want confirmation from an immigration attorney before accepting a new offer.
