Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Fundraising Director
Document your nonprofit leadership credentials early
PERM requires your employer to prove your qualifications match the job requirements. Gather degree transcripts, board-level letters documenting fundraising outcomes, and any CFRE certification before outreach begins, so nothing delays the labor certification filing.
Target organizations with existing PERM infrastructure
Universities, hospital systems, and large national nonprofits regularly sponsor foreign workers and maintain immigration counsel on retainer. Smaller development shops rarely have the HR infrastructure to run a PERM process for a first-time sponsor.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Fundraising Director openings by employers with active green card filing history. Applying to verified sponsoring organizations cuts the time you spend pursuing roles where sponsorship was never a realistic option.
Understand how job duties shape your EB tier
If the role requires a master's degree or equivalent, you likely qualify under EB-2. If a bachelor's degree is the stated minimum, EB-3 applies. Your employer's immigration attorney drafts the PERM job description, and the degree requirement they list locks in your category.
Ask about the PERM recruitment timeline before accepting offers
PERM requires the employer to run a full DOL-compliant recruitment campaign before filing. That process takes three to six months before the I-140 is even submitted. Confirm your prospective employer understands this and has started planning.
Verify your prevailing wage category using OFLC Wage Search
Before your employer files the PERM, check the DOL prevailing wage for Fundraising Director in the specific metro area using OFLC Wage Search. If the offered salary falls below the applicable wage level, the PERM will be denied regardless of qualifications.

Find Fundraising Director JobsFundraising Director Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Fundraising Director role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories are available depending on how the employer defines the role. EB-2 applies when the position requires a master's degree or equivalent. EB-3 applies when a bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement. The PERM job description your employer files with DOL determines which category applies, so the degree requirement listed in that document is binding throughout the process.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B is a temporary work visa capped at 85,000 per year and subject to an annual lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition level and leads to permanent residency rather than a fixed-term status. The tradeoff is time: the PERM process typically takes one to two years before you reach adjustment of status, compared to H-1B approval in a few months.
Which types of employers are most likely to sponsor a Fundraising Director for a green card?
Universities, hospital foundations, large national nonprofits, and federated organizations such as United Way chapters are the most consistent sponsors. These employers have established HR and legal infrastructure to manage PERM filings. Smaller community nonprofits and startup organizations rarely have the administrative capacity or budget to run a first-time PERM process.
How can I find Fundraising Director jobs where the employer will actually sponsor a green card?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Fundraising Director openings filtered by employers with verified green card filing history. Most standard job postings don't disclose sponsorship eligibility upfront, which means candidates often invest significant time in applications and interviews before learning the employer won't sponsor. Filtering by filing history eliminates that uncertainty early.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I'm working for them on another visa status?
Yes. PERM labor certification can be filed while you hold H-1B, O-1, or other nonimmigrant status. The green card process runs concurrently with your existing authorization. Filing PERM does not affect your current visa status. What matters is that your employer has obtained a prevailing wage determination from DOL and completes the mandatory recruitment steps before submitting the ETA 9089 form to OFLC.
