Align your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires your degree to match the minimum education the employer genuinely needs for the role. A business, marketing, or communications bachelor's strengthens your EB-3 case; an MBA or specialized master's degree supports an EB-2 filing.
Target companies with active PERM filings
Search DOL PERM disclosure data to identify companies that have sponsored Account Executive or sales roles before. Employers with a filing history are far more likely to sponsor again than those starting the process cold.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Business Account Executive roles at employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Filtering by EB-2 or EB-3 history saves you from pitching sponsorship to companies that have never navigated PERM.
Verify the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your offer letter salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so your expected compensation clears the PERM minimum and doesn't delay the labor certification.
Ask employers about their PERM timeline upfront
PERM labor certification typically takes six to twelve months before the I-140 petition can even be filed. Confirm during the offer stage whether the employer has in-house immigration counsel or uses outside counsel to manage the process.
Understand how your O*NET classification affects eligibility
The O*NET occupation profile for Business Account Executive guides how USCIS evaluates whether the role qualifies as a professional position under EB-3 or meets the advanced-degree threshold for EB-2. Reviewing it helps you frame your experience accurately.
Green Card Business Account Executive: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Business Account Executive role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Business Account Executive positions qualify under EB-3 as professional roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. EB-2 eligibility applies when the employer can document that the position genuinely requires an advanced degree, or if you can self-petition through a National Interest Waiver, though the latter is rarely applicable to sales roles.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status. There is no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China, so you won't face lottery uncertainty. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status can take two to four years, compared to a faster H-1B visa change of status.
What does the PERM process require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process to show no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. This involves posting the job, documenting applicant rejections, and submitting the ETA-9089 form to the DOL. The employer carries most of the administrative burden, but the job description used in PERM must match your actual duties.
How do I find Business Account Executive jobs where employers will sponsor a green card?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Business Account Executive roles at employers with EB-2 or EB-3 filing history, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with PERM. Filtering by sponsorship history is more reliable than asking in cold outreach whether a company sponsors, which often leads to vague or inaccurate answers.
Can I switch employers after my green card sponsorship has started?
Once your I-140 petition is approved and your priority date is current, portability rules under AC21 allow you to change to a similar role without losing your place in the queue, as long as your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days. Business Account Executive roles are typically portable to comparable sales or business development positions.
