Graduate Nurse Green Card Jobs
Graduate Nurse roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Hospitals and health systems with active PERM filing histories are your strongest targets. Start with employers who have sponsored foreign nurses before.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Graduate Nurse
Get your CGFNS certification before applying
Most U.S. states require foreign-educated nurses to obtain Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) certification before a nursing license can be issued. Without a valid state RN license, no employer can file a PERM petition on your behalf.
Target hospitals with active PERM filing histories
Health systems that have sponsored nurses before have existing HR and legal processes for the PERM filing. Use OFLC Wage Search to filter past labor certification filings by occupation and employer, then prioritize facilities that have filed for RN or graduate nurse roles.
Search green card sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship histories so you can target facilities already set up for the PERM process, rather than cold-applying to hospitals that have never navigated foreign nurse sponsorship before.
Confirm your job offer covers PERM prevailing wage
DOL requires your employer to pay you the prevailing wage for your occupation and location before filing your PERM application. Cross-check your offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search to confirm it meets or exceeds the required wage level, or the PERM will not be certified.
Understand that EB-3 processing runs in two phases
After PERM certification, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. For most countries, EB-3 priority dates are current, meaning you can file for adjustment of status without a multi-year backlog. Indian and Chinese nationals face longer waits due to country-based caps.
Plan your OPT or H-1B bridge around PERM timelines
PERM certification alone can take six to eighteen months. If you're on OPT or an H-1B, confirm your current status will remain valid long enough to bridge to an approved I-140. Ask your employer to file PERM as early as possible in your employment to avoid gaps.

Find Graduate Nurse JobsGraduate Nurse Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do graduate nurse roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most graduate nurse positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with at least a bachelor's degree. EB-2 applies to advanced-degree professionals, so if you hold a Master of Science in Nursing or higher and the role requires it, EB-2 may be available. Most hospital-sponsored nurses use EB-3 because it matches the standard BSN requirement for an RN position.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for nurses?
The EB-3 green card route leads to permanent residency, not a temporary work visa, and there is no annual lottery for employment-based green cards. H-1B requires winning a random lottery selection and is capped each fiscal year. EB-3 processing runs longer overall because it includes PERM labor certification, but it avoids the cap uncertainty that affects H-1B applicants every spring.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-prescribed recruitment campaign to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific graduate nurse position. This includes posting job ads, documenting applicant rejections, and submitting the ETA 9089 application to DOL. The process typically takes six to eighteen months before certification is issued and your employer can file the I-140 with USCIS.
Where can I find employers who actively sponsor graduate nurses for green cards?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship histories, so you can focus your applications on health systems already experienced with the PERM and I-140 process. Targeting facilities with prior nurse sponsorship significantly reduces the risk that your employer lacks the HR infrastructure to see the filing through to approval.
Will my foreign nursing degree be accepted for PERM and the RN license application?
DOL and USCIS recognize foreign nursing credentials, but you must first clear the state board licensing process, which typically requires a CGFNS credential evaluation, NCLEX passage, and an English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL if your training was not in English. Your RN license is a prerequisite for any employer-sponsored PERM filing, so credential evaluation is the first step in the green card process.
