IT Operations Specialist Green Card Jobs
IT Operations Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which permanently ties your authorization to the employer rather than a visa renewal cycle. Employers file with DOL and USCIS to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available, then petition for your permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as an IT Operations Specialist
Align your credentials with PERM requirements early
PERM locks in the minimum education and experience stated in the job ad. Get your foreign IT degree evaluated by a NACES-member credential service before applications begin, so the certified equivalency matches what the employer lists.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search the DOL OFLC disclosure data for IT Operations or Systems Administrator titles to identify companies that have recently certified PERM applications. Firms with recent filings understand the process and are more likely to repeat it.
Search green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters IT Operations Specialist roles by employers who have sponsored green cards before, saving you the manual work of cross-referencing OFLC data. Start your search there to reach verified sponsoring employers faster.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 classification with your employer
EB-2 requires an advanced degree or its equivalent; EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree. The role description your employer files with DOL determines which category applies, directly affecting your priority date and wait time.
Confirm the employer completes the recruitment steps correctly
PERM requires your employer to run DOL-mandated recruitment ads and document that no minimally qualified U.S. worker applied. Gaps in that recruitment record are the leading cause of PERM audit and denial, stalling your entire green card timeline.
Track your priority date against the Visa Bulletin after I-140 approval
Once USCIS approves your I-140 petition, your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status. For IT Operations roles under EB-3, monitor the monthly Visa Bulletin to know when your date becomes current and you can act.

Find IT Operations Specialist JobsIT Operations Specialist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an IT Operations Specialist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
It depends on how your employer structures the job requirements. EB-3 applies when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information technology, computer science, or a related discipline. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or when you can demonstrate the equivalent through progressive experience. Your employer locks in the qualifying standard when they file the PERM labor certification with DOL, so the job description they submit is binding.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for IT Operations roles?
H-1B is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years, subject to the annual lottery cap. PERM-based green card sponsorship is a permanent pathway with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The process takes longer, typically two to four years from PERM filing to adjustment of status approval for most nationalities, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a status you have to defend at each renewal cycle.
What documents should I prepare before an employer begins my PERM filing?
You'll need a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization confirming your foreign degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's or master's degree, depending on your target category. You'll also need complete employment verification letters for any prior experience the employer plans to use as a substitute for formal education. O*NET lists the standard requirements for IT Operations roles, which helps you anticipate what DOL will expect the employer to document.
How can I find IT Operations Specialist jobs where the employer will sponsor a green card?
Most standard job boards don't filter by PERM sponsorship history, so you end up applying to employers who have never filed a labor certification. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for IT Operations Specialist roles posted by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you're not wasting applications on companies that have no sponsorship infrastructure in place.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is certified but before my green card is approved?
Changing employers after PERM certification but before I-140 approval means starting over, because the PERM application is tied to the specific employer and job description. After I-140 approval and once your priority date has been pending for 180 days, portability rules under AC21 allow you to move to a same or similar IT Operations role at a new employer without losing your priority date. Confirm the new role's SOC code matches before you make any move.
