Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as an IT Product Manager
Align your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM certification locks in the education and experience requirements listed in the job posting. Make sure your degree field and years of product management experience match the advertised role exactly before an employer files, or USCIS may issue an RFE on your I-140.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications under product management SOC codes. Employers who have sponsored before understand the timeline and are less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-process due to cost concerns.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers faster
Filter by green card sponsorship history and IT product management roles directly on Migrate Mate. The platform surfaces employers who have an established PERM filing record, saving you weeks of manual research through raw DOL disclosure files.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before signing an offer
Ask whether the employer will cover PERM attorney fees and whether portability under AC21 is permitted after 180 days. For roles with long priority date backlogs, job portability protections are a critical negotiating point, not a formality.
Understand the EB-2 advanced degree evidence standard
EB-2 requires a U.S. master's degree or its foreign equivalent, or a U.S. bachelor's degree plus five progressive years of experience. For IT product managers, document promotions, scope of ownership, and team size to support the advanced-degree equivalency claim.
Check prevailing wage before the employer files your LCA
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific product management role and work location. If your offered salary falls below the Level II or Level III wage, the DOL will reject the LCA and delay your entire PERM timeline.
Green Card IT Product Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an IT Product Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
IT Product Manager positions typically qualify for both EB-2 and EB-3 depending on the employer's job requirements. EB-2 applies when the role requires a master's degree or equivalent, while EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience. The employer's PERM application defines the qualifying category, so the job description needs to specify degree requirements precisely before filing.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for product managers?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status. Unlike the H-1B visa, there is no annual lottery for EB-3 petitions, and the process is not time-capped for most nationalities outside India and China. The trade-off is timeline: PERM alone takes six to twelve months, and priority date backlogs can add years for high-demand nationalities before you can file for adjustment of status.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for an IT Product Manager role?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process through the DOL to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the specific product manager position. This includes posting the role through prescribed channels, documenting recruitment outcomes, and filing an ETA Form 9089 with the OFLC. The job requirements listed in the PERM application must match your actual qualifications and become the permanent standard for your I-140 petition.
How can I find IT Product Manager jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Searching general job boards rarely surfaces employers with a proven PERM filing track record. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for companies that have sponsored IT product management roles through employment-based green card processes, so you can focus your applications on employers who have already committed to the cost and timeline of PERM sponsorship rather than discovering their policy during the offer stage.
Can I change jobs after my employer files my green card petition?
You can change to a same or similar IT product management role without losing your priority date once your I-485 has been pending for 180 days or more, under the AC21 portability provision. Before that 180-day mark, leaving your sponsoring employer typically requires restarting the PERM process with a new employer. Confirming that your new role is sufficiently similar in duties and SOC code classification is critical before making any job change.
