Verify your credentials meet EB-2 requirements
An MSN or DNP with a current NP license and national board certification in palliative care strengthens an EB-2 advanced-degree filing. USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree is directly related to the specialty occupation, so gather transcripts and license documentation early.
Target hospice and health systems with PERM history
Large hospice organizations, academic medical centers, and VA facilities file PERM applications regularly for NP roles. Check DOL's OFLC disclosure data to confirm a prospective employer has certified palliative care positions before investing time in their application process.
Understand the prevailing wage before your interview
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up your position before negotiations so you can confirm any offer meets the legal threshold for a compliant filing.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by palliative care NP roles where employers have active EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified PERM filing records, so you spend less time cold-applying to organizations without green card infrastructure.
Account for PERM recruitment timelines in your planning
The PERM process requires your employer to complete a supervised DOL recruitment period before certifying that no qualified U.S. workers are available. Plan for six to twelve months from job offer to certified PERM application, separate from subsequent USCIS adjudication time.

Find Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner JobsPalliative Care Nurse Practitioner Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Palliative Care NP positions typically qualify under EB-2 when the employer requires a master's degree in nursing and the role meets specialty occupation standards. If the posted minimum is a bachelor's degree with licensure, EB-3 skilled worker is the more appropriate category. Your employer's HR team and immigration counsel determine which category applies based on how the position is defined internally.
How does green card sponsorship through PERM differ from H-1B for this role?
PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a time-limited status requiring periodic renewal. Unlike the H-1B, the EB-3 category has no annual lottery and, for many countries outside India and China, priority dates are current or close to current. The trade-off is process length: PERM plus I-140 adjudication can take one to two years before you file for adjustment of status, compared to a faster H-1B change of status.
Which employers commonly sponsor Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners for green cards?
Academic medical centers, large regional hospital systems, hospice networks operating across multiple states, and VA medical facilities are the most consistent EB-2 and EB-3 filers for advanced practice nursing roles. These organizations have in-house immigration teams or retained counsel familiar with the PERM recruitment requirements specific to clinical NP positions.
How can I find Palliative Care NP jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you filter palliative care NP roles by employers with documented PERM and I-140 filing history, so you're targeting organizations that have completed the process before rather than ones encountering it for the first time. This significantly reduces the risk of an employer withdrawing sponsorship mid-process due to unfamiliarity with DOL and USCIS requirements.
Can my employer start PERM while I'm on H-1B status?
Yes, concurrent status does not prevent your employer from initiating PERM. Many Palliative Care NPs on H-1B use AC21 portability provisions to switch to a substantially similar green card-sponsored role once the I-140 has been approved for 180 days. Starting PERM early while maintaining valid H-1B status is the standard path for NPs already working in the U.S.
