Green Card Physical Therapy Assistant Jobs
Physical Therapy Assistant roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer documents that no qualified U.S. worker is available before filing your I-140 immigrant petition. Rehab networks, long-term care facilities, and outpatient clinics regularly sponsor foreign PTAs, making this a realistic path to permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Physical Therapy Assistant
Verify your PTA credential equivalency early
Foreign-trained PTAs often need a CGFNS or similar credential evaluation before PERM can proceed. Get your degree and clinical hours assessed against U.S. state licensure standards before your employer starts the labor certification process.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Skilled nursing facilities, hospital rehabilitation departments, and home health agencies file PERM petitions far more often than small private clinics. Use Migrate Mate to filter Physical Therapy Assistant roles by employers with documented green card sponsorship activity.
Confirm state licensure before the PERM audit stage
PERM requires you to meet the minimum requirements listed in the job description on the filing date. If your state PTA license is pending or conditional, DOL can flag your case, so secure full licensure before your employer submits.
Understand how EB-3 sidesteps H-1B lottery risk
EB-3 sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition stage and no lottery. Your employer files a PERM application with DOL, then an I-140 with USCIS, putting you on a permanent residency track instead of a renewable temporary status.
Ask employers about concurrent I-485 filing eligibility
If your USCIS priority date is current when your I-140 is approved, you can file for adjustment of status at the same time, shortening your wait significantly. Confirm this with your sponsoring employer before accepting an offer.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your PTA role in their specific geographic area. Cross-check their offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search before signing, since a wage below the prevailing level will invalidate the PERM filing.
Green Card Physical Therapy Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Physical Therapy Assistant jobs commonly qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Physical Therapy Assistant is classified as a skilled occupation requiring specialized training and state licensure, which fits the EB-3 skilled worker category. Rehab networks, long-term care facilities, and hospital systems regularly file PERM applications for foreign PTAs when they cannot find qualified U.S. workers through standard recruitment efforts documented to DOL standards.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a PTA role?
H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation with a bachelor's degree requirement and is subject to an annual lottery, making it unreliable for PTA roles. EB-3 green card sponsorship has no lottery, no annual cap at the petition stage, and leads directly to permanent residency. The trade-off is a longer process: PERM labor certification alone can take six to twelve months before the I-140 is even filed.
What is the PERM labor certification process for a Physical Therapy Assistant?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL certifying that they conducted a good-faith recruitment process, posted the role at the required prevailing wage, and found no qualified U.S. workers. For PTA positions, this typically includes job postings, state workforce agency listings, and documentation of all applicants reviewed. DOL either certifies the application or audits it for additional evidence.
Where can I find Physical Therapy Assistant jobs that specifically offer green card sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by green card sponsorship status, so you end up applying to roles where the employer has no PERM history and may decline to sponsor. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you find Physical Therapy Assistant openings at employers with documented employment-based sponsorship activity so you're not starting from scratch with every application.
Can I switch PTA employers while my green card case is in progress?
Changing employers restarts the PERM process from the beginning because the labor certification and I-140 are tied to the specific sponsoring employer and job offer. Once your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days and your I-140 is approved, USCIS portability rules may allow a move to a similar PTA role without losing your priority date.
