Green Card Project Accountant Jobs
Project Accountant roles at U.S. construction, engineering, and real estate firms regularly qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification. Employers document that no qualified U.S. worker is available before filing your I-140 petition, putting you on a path to permanent residency rather than a temporary status.

Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM labor certification ties the minimum requirements to your actual background. If your employer lists a bachelor's in accounting as the minimum, your foreign degree credential evaluation must confirm equivalency before DOL approves the application.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Construction managers, engineering firms, and government contractors file PERM for Project Accountants more frequently than general employers. Searching OFLC disclosure data by SOC code 13-2011 surfaces which companies have certified these roles before.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 with your prospective employer
If the role requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers file under EB-3. If your position genuinely requires an advanced degree or specialized expertise, push for EB-2 classification early since it can reduce your priority date wait significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Project Accountant roles at employers with documented green card filing history. Filtering by sponsorship type saves time compared to screening job postings that never clarify immigration support.
Confirm the employer's prevailing wage before accepting an offer
DOL requires your offered wage to meet the prevailing wage for your location and job level. Run a quick check using the OFLC Wage Search before signing an offer so there are no surprises during the DOL audit stage.
Understand concurrent filing if a visa number is available
If your priority date is current, you can file I-140 and I-485 together, cutting months off your path to a green card. USCIS allows concurrent filing for adjustment of status when visa availability aligns with your filing date.
Green Card Project Accountant: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Project Accountant roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Project Accountant positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled professional roles requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. EB-2 applies when the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or when a candidate pursues a National Interest Waiver. Your employer's attorney determines the correct category based on the job's actual minimum requirements.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a Project Accountant?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 per year with a lottery, while EB-3 green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency. The tradeoff is time: PERM labor certification adds several months to the process, and priority date backlogs vary by country of birth. For most nationalities, EB-3 remains a more predictable long-term path.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for this role?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment campaign proving no minimally qualified U.S. worker is available for the Project Accountant position. DOL audits are common, especially for accounting roles, so job descriptions must match your actual duties precisely. The process typically takes six to twelve months before an I-140 petition can be filed with USCIS.
How can I find Project Accountant jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Most job postings don't specify green card sponsorship clearly, which makes direct searching difficult. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for employers with verified employment-based green card filing history in accounting roles, so you spend time applying to positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an afterthought you discover after an offer.
Can my foreign accounting degree support a PERM-based green card application?
Yes, but you'll need a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized organization confirming your foreign degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in accounting or a related field. DOL requires that the minimum requirements listed in your PERM application match your actual credentials. If your degree is a three-year qualification from a non-U.S. institution, some evaluators combine it with relevant experience to establish equivalency.
