Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Roadway Engineer
Align your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires your degree field to match the offered position. A civil or transportation engineering degree maps cleanly to Roadway Engineer roles, but a general engineering degree may need supporting documentation showing coursework alignment.
Search green card sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Roadway Engineer openings by employers with active PERM filing history, so you're applying to organizations that have already committed to sponsoring foreign professionals in your exact role category.
Verify your PE license portability across states
Some employers require a Professional Engineer license as a minimum job requirement, which PERM locks in permanently. Confirm your foreign engineering credentials can be evaluated for PE licensure in the sponsoring employer's state before the job description is filed.
Understand the EB-3 versus EB-2 classification decision
If the employer defines the role as requiring only a bachelor's degree, it files under EB-3. If the position genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent, EB-2 applies. This classification affects your priority date and wait times, especially for India and China nationals.
Request the prevailing wage determination early
Your employer must submit a prevailing wage request to OFLC before starting PERM recruitment. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels for your SOC code and work location so you can anticipate whether the offered salary meets the DOL threshold.

Find Roadway Engineer JobsRoadway Engineer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Roadway Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Roadway Engineer positions qualify under EB-3 when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in civil or transportation engineering. EB-2 applies if the role genuinely requires a master's degree or its equivalent. The classification depends entirely on how the employer defines the minimum requirements in the PERM job description, not on your personal credentials.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for Roadway Engineers?
H-1B is a temporary work visa capped at 85,000 per year with an annual lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 category level for most countries, leads to permanent residency, and requires the employer to conduct a formal DOL-supervised recruitment process proving no qualified U.S. workers were available for the role before filing.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for a Roadway Engineer?
PERM labor certification currently takes several months to over a year depending on DOL audit rates. After PERM approval, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS. For nationals from most countries outside India and China, adjustment of status or consular processing can begin relatively quickly once I-140 is approved, making the full timeline roughly two to four years in practice.
Where can I find Roadway Engineer jobs that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search Roadway Engineer openings specifically filtered by employers with PERM and employment-based green card filing history. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers who may never have sponsored a foreign worker, and connects you directly to organizations where the sponsorship pathway already exists.
Can a PE license requirement on the PERM application affect my green card sponsorship?
Yes. If the employer lists a Professional Engineer license as a minimum requirement in the PERM job description, USCIS will expect you to hold that license by the time you adjust status or receive your immigrant visa. Foreign-trained engineers should verify their credentials qualify for state PE licensure evaluation before the employer locks in the job requirements.
