Green Card SOC Analyst Jobs
SOC Analyst roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available before filing your I-140 immigrant petition. Cybersecurity demand makes this one of the more sponsor-active job families for foreign professionals.

Cybersecurity at Hornblower is responsible for protecting the business. We do so by establishing, maintaining and enforcing policies to meet and exceed industry standards for security and compliance.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Security Analyst to join our information security team. In this role, you will help defend our organization against cyber threats by monitoring security tools, investigating alerts, and supporting incident response efforts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop hands-on experience across a broad range of security disciplines while working alongside experienced practitioners.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) platforms, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools for suspicious activity.
- Triage and investigate security alerts, escalating confirmed incidents to senior analysts according to established playbooks.
- Assist in incident response activities, including evidence collection, containment, and post-incident documentation.
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans and help track remediation efforts with system owners.
- Review logs from firewalls, endpoint protection, identity providers, and cloud platforms to identify anomalies.
- Support phishing investigations, including analysis of suspicious emails, URLs, and attachments in a sandboxed environment.
- Contribute to the maintenance of security documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Assist with user access reviews, security awareness initiatives, and routine compliance tasks.
- Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attacker techniques, sharing relevant findings with the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience (internships, home labs, military, or self-directed study).
- Foundational understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPNs) and common operating systems (Windows and Linux).
- Familiarity with core security concepts: the CIA triad, common attack types (phishing, malware, brute force, privilege escalation), and basic defensive controls.
- Hands-on exposure to SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, etc.), EDR tools, or vulnerability scanners.
- Basic scripting ability in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for log parsing or task automation.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, or the Cyber Kill Chain.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their native security services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Eagerness to learn and a methodical, curious approach to investigation.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a SOC Analyst
Document your SOC certifications before applying
Compile your CISSP, CEH, Security+, or equivalent credentials into a single package before outreach. PERM petitions require your employer to match the offered role to your actual qualifications, so gaps between your resume and the job description can stall the DOL audit process.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications for SOC Analyst or related cybersecurity titles. A company that has sponsored before understands the timeline and is far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-process after you've accepted an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to find green card sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate filters SOC Analyst roles by employers with verified green card sponsorship activity, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never filed a PERM. Use it to focus your search on organizations that have already committed to employment-based sponsorship.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 path with your employer
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers will file under EB-3. If your employer is willing to document a business necessity for an advanced degree or equivalent experience, EB-2 may be available and can matter significantly for applicants from backlogged countries.
Negotiate a start date that accounts for PERM timing
PERM labor certification typically takes six to twelve months before your employer can even file the I-140. Build that lead time into your offer negotiation so your employer isn't pressured to cut the process short, which can result in a defective application.
Request your employer use a certified prevailing wage
Before PERM is filed, your employer must obtain a prevailing wage determination from OFLC using the OFLC Wage Search. Ask HR to confirm the offered wage meets or exceeds that level. A wage below the certified prevailing wage is one of the most common reasons PERM applications are audited or denied.
Green Card SOC Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Do SOC Analyst roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
SOC Analyst positions most commonly qualify under EB-3 when the role requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. EB-2 is available if the employer can demonstrate the position requires an advanced degree or if you have a bachelor's degree plus at least five years of progressive, specialized experience that USCIS recognizes as equivalent to a master's degree.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a SOC Analyst?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa renewed in three-year increments with an annual cap and lottery. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 is permanent, has no lottery, and does not require annual renewal once approved. The tradeoff is timeline: the PERM process alone takes six to twelve months before USCIS even begins adjudicating your I-140 immigrant petition.
Which employers sponsor green cards for SOC Analyst roles?
Large financial institutions, defense contractors, healthcare systems, and managed security service providers are among the most active filers of PERM applications for cybersecurity and SOC roles. You can use Migrate Mate to search specifically for employers with verified green card sponsorship activity in this job family, which removes the guesswork of cold applications to companies with no PERM history.
Can my employer start the green card process while I'm on an H-1B?
Yes. Your employer can file PERM while you're working on an H-1B, and many do this concurrently. Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date becomes current, you file for adjustment of status. If your I-140 has been approved for more than 180 days, you can change employers and keep your priority date under AC21 portability rules.
What does the PERM process actually require for a SOC Analyst position?
Your employer must conduct a formal recruitment campaign, advertise the role at the prevailing wage certified by OFLC, and document that no qualified U.S. worker applied or was rejected for unlawful reasons. The job description filed with DOL must match the actual duties and the minimum requirements must align precisely with your qualifications. Any mismatch can trigger an audit or denial.
