Social Media Strategist Green Card Jobs
Social Media Strategist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Employers file PERM labor certification with DOL before petitioning USCIS. Landing a role with a sponsor committed to the full green card process is the critical first step.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Social Media Strategist
Document your portfolio as specialized evidence
Compile campaign performance data, platform-specific results, and brand strategy work into a portfolio that demonstrates specialized expertise. PERM requires your employer to prove the role demands your qualifications, so concrete deliverables strengthen that case from the start.
Search for PERM-filing employers in your niche
Use Migrate Mate to filter Social Media Strategist roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're targeting companies that have already committed to the PERM process rather than those open to it in theory.
Verify prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search tool to check the prevailing wage for your job title and location before negotiating. Your employer must pay at least that wage throughout the PERM and green card process, and underpaying creates filing risks for both of you.
Distinguish EB-2 and EB-3 paths early in negotiations
If your role requires a master's degree or equivalent in digital strategy, ask whether the employer will pursue EB-2 rather than defaulting to EB-3. EB-2 priority dates can move faster for some nationalities, and the distinction affects your timeline significantly.
Ask employers about their PERM recruitment documentation process
DOL requires employers to run specific recruitment steps before filing PERM, including job postings that match the actual role. Confirm your prospective employer understands this requirement, since a mismatch between the posted job description and your actual duties is a common audit trigger.
Use O*NET to align your job title with DOL classifications
Check the O*NET occupation profile for Social Media Specialists or Marketing Managers to confirm which Standard Occupational Classification code fits your duties. The correct SOC code shapes the PERM wage determination and filing category your employer will use.

Find Social Media Strategist JobsSocial Media Strategist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Social Media Strategist role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Social Media Strategist positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. If the role requires a master's degree or equivalent and the employer can document that requirement, EB-2 may apply. The distinction depends on how the employer defines the position's minimum qualifications in the PERM filing.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and an I-140 petition leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status. There's no annual lottery, and EB-3 has no numerical cap concerns for many nationalities the way H-1B does. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes six months to over a year, whereas H-1B approval can happen within weeks with premium processing.
What makes a Social Media Strategist role PERM-eligible versus a contractor position?
PERM sponsorship requires a full-time, permanent employment relationship with a U.S. employer. Freelance, contract, or project-based roles don't qualify. The employer must also demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position, which is why the PERM recruitment process involves specific DOL-mandated job postings before filing.
How can I find Social Media Strategist employers who actually commit to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Social Media Strategist job listings by employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you can target roles where the company has already completed PERM filings. This is more reliable than asking employers during interviews, since many HR teams conflate H-1B sponsorship willingness with the more involved PERM process.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved but before I have a green card?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, if your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days and your adjustment of status application has been pending, you can move to a new employer in the same or similar occupational classification. For Social Media Strategists, a similar role in digital marketing or content strategy typically satisfies the same-or-similar requirement, but your new employer should confirm this before you resign.
