Green Card Speech Therapist Jobs
Speech therapist roles in hospital systems, school districts, and rehabilitation networks qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Your employer files the I-140 immigrant petition after PERM approval, putting you on a path to permanent residency rather than repeated visa renewals.

Verify your CCC before applying
ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence is the credential employers cite in PERM job descriptions. Confirm yours is current and reflects your scope of practice before any employer submits a prevailing-wage request to DOL, since mismatches trigger recruitment re-runs.
Target healthcare systems with PERM history
Hospital networks and pediatric rehabilitation groups file PERM applications regularly for SLPs because demand consistently outpaces the domestic supply. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with active green card sponsorship history specific to speech therapist roles.
Understand the two EB categories before negotiating
EB-3 covers licensed SLPs with a bachelor's or master's degree. EB-2 applies if your role requires a master's as a minimum entry requirement, not just preferred. Clarify which category your offer supports before signing, since it affects your priority date and wait time.
Check prevailing wage before the employer does
Run your job title and practice setting through the OFLC Wage Search before your first offer conversation. Knowing the DOL wage level for your region lets you flag underpaying offers that won't survive the PERM prevailing-wage determination step.
Confirm state licensure portability during PERM recruitment
PERM recruitment must advertise the actual work location. If your employer sponsors you for a role in one state but reassigns you during the green card process, your state SLP license may not transfer automatically, which can disrupt your authorized employment and the pending case.
Ask about concurrent filing eligibility at offer stage
If your priority date is current when the I-140 is approved, you can file the I-485 adjustment of status concurrently rather than waiting separately. USCIS allows this for eligible categories, and it significantly shortens the time between PERM approval and your green card interview.
Green Card Speech Therapist: Frequently Asked Questions
Do speech therapist jobs commonly come with green card sponsorship?
Yes. SLP roles in hospitals, school systems, and skilled nursing facilities regularly include EB-3 green card sponsorship because persistent domestic shortages make PERM approvals straightforward for this occupation. Employers in healthcare and education are among the most frequent PERM filers for allied health professionals, and the DOL has recognized speech pathology as a consistently hard-to-fill category.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for SLPs?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, capped at 65,000 slots annually, and subject to a lottery. EB-3 green card sponsorship is permanent, has no annual lottery, and leads to lawful permanent residency. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification and I-140 approval take longer than an H-1B filing, and nationals from India and China face priority date backlogs even at EB-3. Most other nationalities move through EB-3 without extended waits.
What does the PERM process look like for a speech therapist role?
Your employer starts by obtaining a prevailing-wage determination from DOL, then runs a mandatory recruitment campaign to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. If recruitment confirms the shortage, the employer files the PERM application electronically. After PERM approval, they file your I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Once your priority date is current, you file for adjustment of status or attend a consular interview abroad.
How do I find speech therapist jobs that sponsor green cards?
Search by employer sponsorship history, not just job title. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship records in speech therapy and allied health, so you're not manually reviewing postings and guessing at sponsorship willingness. Targeting employers who have already completed PERM filings for SLP roles cuts your timeline significantly.
Does my ASHA certification affect my EB-2 or EB-3 eligibility?
Your CCC-SLP from ASHA satisfies the specialty occupation credential requirement and strengthens the employer's PERM application by establishing that the role genuinely requires a licensed specialist. For EB-2, the position itself must require a master's degree as a minimum, which many clinical SLP roles do. Your CCC-SLP, combined with state licensure, is the documentation package most PERM applications for this title are built around.
