Green Card Technology Director Jobs
Technology Director roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Large enterprises and mid-market tech firms regularly sponsor this role, making it one of the more accessible paths to permanent residency for senior technology leaders.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Technology Director
Frame your credentials around PERM requirements
PERM labor certification ties your green card to a specific job description. Document your education and specialized technology leadership experience in terms that match EB-2 advanced-degree criteria or EB-3 skilled-worker standards before you start applying.
Target employers with established immigration infrastructure
Technology Director roles at companies with dedicated immigration counsel move through PERM and I-140 faster than those without. Ask during early interviews whether the company has sponsored directors or VP-level roles before, not just individual contributors.
Use OFLC Wage Search to anchor your salary negotiations
PERM requires your offered wage to meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Pull the Level III or Level IV wage from OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer so your salary lands above the threshold and doesn't delay certification.
Search Migrate Mate to find active sponsoring employers
Not every company advertising a Technology Director role is prepared to sponsor PERM. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with documented green card filing history for senior technology positions, so you focus your search where sponsorship is already established.
Clarify the job description before PERM is filed
USCIS scrutinizes Technology Director petitions where duties overlap with IT management generalist roles. Work with your employer to ensure the PERM job description specifies the specialized technical domain, such as cloud architecture, cybersecurity, or enterprise systems, that justifies EB-2 classification.
Understand concurrent filing if your priority date is current
If your country of birth and EB-2 or EB-3 category have a current priority date in the USCIS Visa Bulletin, your employer can file the I-140 and your I-485 adjustment of status simultaneously, cutting months off your wait for work authorization and travel freedom.
Green Card Technology Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technology Director role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Technology Director positions typically qualify for EB-2 when the role requires a master's degree or equivalent in a specialized field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. EB-3 is available if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree. The employer's job description and minimum requirements, filed with DOL under PERM, determine which category applies.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Technology Director?
H-1B visa is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years and subject to annual lottery selection. A PERM-based green card is permanent residency with no cap concerns at the EB-3 level for most countries and no lottery. PERM takes longer to complete, typically 12 to 24 months from labor certification through I-140 approval, but it results in lawful permanent residency rather than temporary work authorization.
What does the PERM process require from the employer sponsoring a Technology Director?
The employer must conduct a formal recruitment campaign following DOL-prescribed steps, document that no minimally qualified U.S. worker applied, and file an ETA Form 9089 with DOL. For senior roles like Technology Director, the audit risk is higher if the job description is broad or if the employer waived standard requirements for the foreign worker. A tightly scoped job description reduces that risk.
How can I find Technology Director roles where employers are already set up to sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, including PERM filings for senior technology roles. This saves you from pursuing opportunities at companies that list Technology Director openings but have no immigration infrastructure in place to complete the multi-year sponsorship process.
Can I switch employers after my I-140 is approved for a Technology Director position?
Yes, under AC21 portability, you can change employers after your I-140 is approved and your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, provided the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Technology Director candidates, moving to a comparable senior technology leadership role at a new company generally satisfies the portability requirement.
