Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Video Producer
Match your degree to the job description
PERM approval depends on your credentials directly matching the employer's stated requirements. A degree in film production, broadcast communications, or digital media gives you the clearest path; a degree in an unrelated field raises audit risk even if your portfolio is strong.
Target studios with established immigration programs
Production companies that regularly sponsor foreign nationals already have immigration counsel and internal PERM workflows. Look for employers who list green card sponsorship explicitly in job postings, which signals they've completed the process before and won't stall at the offer stage.
Search EB-2 and EB-3 roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by green card sponsorship on Migrate Mate to find Video Producer openings at employers who have filed employment-based petitions. This cuts out roles where sponsorship is theoretically possible but the employer has no practical experience or budget for PERM.
Understand how PERM wage requirements affect your offer
DOL requires your offered salary to meet the prevailing wage for your location and job level before certifying PERM. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify where your offer lands relative to Level I through Level IV wages for your specific metro area.
Get your foreign credentials evaluated before applications
If your film or media degree came from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation showing equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's degree must accompany your PERM filing. Request this evaluation early since backlogs at evaluation agencies can delay your employer's filing timeline.
Negotiate green card sponsorship into your offer letter
Verbal assurances about future PERM sponsorship carry no legal weight. Confirm the employer's commitment in writing before accepting, specifying that they'll cover PERM advertising costs and legal fees, since these expenses cannot shift to you under DOL rules.

Find Video Producer JobsVideo Producer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Video Producer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Video Producer positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in film, communications, or a related field. EB-2 sponsorship is available if the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or if you have qualifications that support a National Interest Waiver. Your employer's job description and your credentials together determine which category applies.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a Video Producer?
H-1B is a temporary status with an annual lottery cap, while EB-3 green card sponsorship has no lottery and leads to permanent residency. The tradeoff is time: PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months before USCIS even reviews your I-140. For most countries outside China and India, EB-3 priority dates move quickly enough that the total timeline to a green card is three to five years from when your employer starts PERM.
What does the PERM process look like for a Video Producer job?
Your employer posts the Video Producer role in DOL-required recruitment channels for at least 30 days, documents that no qualified U.S. worker applied, then files the ETA Form 9089 with DOL. If certified, they file your I-140 with USCIS. Once your priority date becomes current, you file I-485 to adjust status. The employer bears the PERM advertising costs; DOL prohibits passing those fees to you.
How can I find Video Producer jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate and filter specifically for employment-based green card sponsorship to identify Video Producer openings at employers who have already committed to sponsoring permanent residency. Applying directly to studios and media companies that include sponsorship language in their postings dramatically increases your chances compared to employers unfamiliar with the PERM process.
Can a freelance or contract Video Producer role qualify for PERM sponsorship?
PERM requires a bona fide, full-time, permanent job offer. Freelance and short-term contract arrangements don't satisfy this requirement because DOL needs to certify an ongoing employment relationship. Some production companies structure Video Producer roles as direct hires rather than project contracts specifically to enable PERM filing, so clarifying employment type before negotiating sponsorship terms is essential.
