Social Media Strategy Green Card Jobs
Social Media Strategy roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where employers demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field typically fall under EB-3, while advanced-degree candidates may qualify at the EB-2 level.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Social Media Strategy
Document your specialized platform expertise early
Pull together certifications, campaign performance records, and portfolio evidence before you start applying. PERM requires your employer to define a specific job with defined requirements, and your credentials need to match that description precisely.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search DOL OFLC disclosure data to identify companies that have filed PERM applications for marketing or communications roles. Employers who have done it before face less internal friction and move faster through the certification process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for green card sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Social Media Strategy roles at companies actively filing PERM applications. This cuts out employers who may support H-1B transfers but have never pursued permanent sponsorship for marketing professionals.
Confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Review the O*NET occupation profile for your target job title and check whether a specific bachelor's degree field is listed as the standard entry requirement. PERM petitions can stall if the employer's job description is too broad to establish degree specificity.
Negotiate sponsorship into your offer before signing
Ask the hiring manager to confirm PERM sponsorship in writing during the offer stage, not after onboarding. Some employers will sponsor H-1B extensions but draw the line at permanent labor certification, and clarifying this early prevents costly delays later.
Understand how PERM timelines affect your I-140 priority date
PERM certification currently takes over a year through DOL, and that date does not become your USCIS priority date until the I-140 is filed. Build this into your employment planning so your status remains valid throughout the full green card queue.

Find Social Media Strategy JobsSocial Media Strategy Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Social Media Strategy jobs typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Social Media Strategy roles qualify under EB-3, which covers positions requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as marketing, communications, or digital media. If your role requires a master's degree or you hold one and the employer's job description reflects that, EB-2 may apply. The category depends on how the employer defines the position's minimum requirements in the PERM application.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B is a temporary work visa with a three-year initial period and annual cap constraints. Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency with no renewal cycle. There is no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries, though per-country backlogs affect nationals from high-demand countries. The process is longer, typically two to four years from PERM filing to a green card, but the outcome is permanent employment authorization in the U.S.
What does the PERM process actually involve for a Social Media Strategy hire?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. workers were found through a required recruitment process. For a Social Media Strategy role, the employer must conduct specific advertising steps, document applicant evaluations, and define the minimum job requirements before filing. DOL then reviews the application and, if certified, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS to establish your priority date.
How do I find employers who sponsor green cards for Social Media Strategy roles?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Social Media Strategy positions at companies with active PERM and I-140 filing history. Many employers sponsor H-1B visas but have never filed a PERM application for a marketing role specifically. Filtering by green card sponsorship activity before you apply saves significant time and avoids late-stage surprises during offer negotiations.
Can my employer start PERM while I am on an H-1B or OPT?
Yes. PERM can be filed while you hold any valid work authorization, including H-1B or OPT. Starting PERM early is strategically important because it takes over a year to obtain DOL certification, and the I-140 priority date does not start until USCIS receives that filing. Beginning the process before your current status expires preserves your options and reduces the risk of a gap in authorized employment.
