Green Card X-Ray Tech Jobs
X-Ray Tech roles qualify for EB-3 sponsorship under the skilled worker category, and some advanced imaging positions meet EB-2 criteria. Employers file a PERM labor certification with DOL before petitioning USCIS, making early employer alignment on the green card timeline essential for foreign radiologic technologists seeking permanent U.S. residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in X-Ray Tech
Verify your credentials before applying
PERM-sponsored X-Ray Tech roles almost always require ARRT certification and state licensure. Get your foreign radiologic credentials evaluated by a recognized credentialing body before targeting employers, so your application clears the minimum qualifications PERM auditors review.
Target hospital systems with existing PERM history
Large hospital networks and imaging centers regularly sponsor foreign radiologic technologists and already have immigration counsel on retainer. Prioritize employers who have filed PERM for your SOC code before, since they understand the recruitment attestation requirements DOL enforces.
Search open roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter X-Ray Tech jobs by employers with active green card sponsorship history. That narrows your search to facilities that have already navigated PERM labor certification for radiologic roles, cutting out employers who say they'll sponsor but never have.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 path early
Most X-Ray Tech positions file under EB-3 as skilled workers, but roles requiring a bachelor's degree and specialized modality experience can qualify for EB-2. Ask prospective employers which category they plan to petition under before accepting an offer, since that affects your priority date and wait time.
Understand the PERM recruitment window timing
Your employer must complete DOL-mandated recruitment steps, including job postings and a supervised recruitment report, before filing PERM. That process typically takes four to six months. Factor this into your employment start date discussions so your authorization doesn't lapse before the I-140 petition is filed.
Request a copy of the prevailing wage determination
Before PERM is filed, your employer submits a prevailing wage request to OFLC. Ask to see the approved wage level for your job title and location. If your offered wage falls below the OFLC Wage Search benchmark for your area, PERM can be challenged or denied.
Green Card X-Ray Tech: Frequently Asked Questions
Do X-Ray Tech jobs commonly qualify for green card sponsorship?
Yes. Radiologic technologist roles are classified as skilled workers under EB-3, and DOL regularly certifies PERM applications for this occupation. Employers in hospital systems, outpatient imaging centers, and mobile radiology services have an established track record of sponsoring foreign X-Ray Techs, particularly in regions with persistent staffing shortages.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for X-Ray Techs?
H-1B visa requires an annual lottery and applies to specialty occupations, which can be harder to establish for some X-Ray Tech roles. EB-3 green card sponsorship has no lottery, no annual cap issues for most countries at the skilled worker category, and leads to permanent residency. The tradeoff is a longer process: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status together typically take one to three years for most nationalities.
What credentials do I need before an employer can file PERM for me?
PERM requires you to meet all minimum qualifications listed in the job description at the time of filing. For X-Ray Tech positions, that usually means ARRT certification, a valid state license, and an associate or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology. You'll need a credential evaluation if your degree was earned outside the United States.
How do I find X-Ray Tech employers who have actually sponsored green cards before?
Migrate Mate lets you search X-Ray Tech jobs filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which facilities are willing to file PERM. Targeting employers with prior PERM filings for radiologic roles significantly reduces the risk of an employer backing out mid-process after you've already started.
Can my employer sponsor me for EB-2 instead of EB-3 as an X-Ray Tech?
EB-2 requires the position to demand an advanced degree or its equivalent. Most entry-level X-Ray Tech roles don't meet that threshold, but senior imaging specialist or supervisory radiology positions that require a bachelor's degree plus substantial specialized experience may qualify. Your employer's immigration attorney determines which category to file under based on the actual job duties and requirements.
