Practice Assistant roles at U.S. healthcare organizations, law firms, and clinical practices can qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Align your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM filings require your education and experience to match the job description exactly. Gather official transcripts, credential evaluations, and reference letters that confirm your hands-on clinical or administrative support experience before you start applying.
Target employers with active EB-3 filing history
Healthcare systems, multi-provider practices, and large law firms file PERM applications regularly for Practice Assistant roles. Filter your search to organizations that have sponsored foreign workers before, they already have immigration counsel and established filing workflows in place.
Search green card jobs using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Practice Assistant openings at employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Filtering by sponsorship type saves you from applying to roles where the employer has no PERM experience and is unlikely to start the process for a single hire.
Ask about PERM timing before accepting an offer
PERM recruitment and audit risk means total processing can run two or more years before your I-140 is approved. Confirm whether the employer will start PERM concurrently with your start date or after a probationary period, since that gap directly affects your permanent residency timeline.
Verify the prevailing wage before negotiations
DOL requires your offered salary to meet the prevailing wage for your specific Practice Assistant role and work location. Look up your wage level using the OFLC Wage Search so you know the floor before salary discussions and can spot offers that would fail PERM requirements.
Understand how EB-2 and EB-3 affect your path
Most Practice Assistant roles qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, but advanced-degree candidates may qualify under EB-2. Your visa category affects priority date backlogs by country, so confirm with your sponsoring employer which classification USCIS is likely to accept for your specific duties.

Find Practice Assistant JobsPractice Assistant Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Practice Assistant role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Practice Assistant positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled worker roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. If the role requires a master's degree or equivalent, the employer may pursue EB-2 instead. The classification depends on the specific duties outlined in the PERM job description, not just your personal credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Practice Assistant?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status with renewal deadlines. Unlike H-1B, EB-3 sponsorship has no lottery and no annual cap on petitions, though country-based priority date backlogs can extend the wait. The PERM process requires DOL labor certification first, which adds time upfront but provides a more stable long-term outcome.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for this role?
DOL PERM audits and standard processing currently run six months to over a year before certification. After that, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS, which takes several additional months. For applicants from countries with priority date backlogs, the adjustment of status stage can extend the total timeline significantly beyond the initial filing period.
Where can I find Practice Assistant jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Practice Assistant openings filtered specifically by employers with green card sponsorship history. This matters because most job boards don't surface sponsorship intent at the search level, and cold applications to employers without PERM experience rarely result in a sponsored offer.
What does the PERM process require from me as the applicant?
You don't file PERM yourself, your employer does. Your role is to provide accurate documentation of your qualifications, including transcripts, credential evaluations, and employment verification letters, so the job description USCIS and DOL review matches your actual background. Any discrepancy between your credentials and the PERM filing can trigger an audit or denial.
