The Opportunity
We are looking for a Project and Commercial Manager to join our growing PPM team. This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of defined projects and workstreams across project management, commercial management and project controls whilst working alongside experienced Project Managers, Project Directors and technical leaders.
You will support both owner-side project management commissions and Arup-led design delivery projects, helping clients and project teams successfully plan, govern and deliver projects from inception through completion.
Whether supporting a major infrastructure program, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, developing project reporting, tracking commercial performance or helping manage project risk, you will play a key role in delivering successful outcomes for our clients.
- Manage the planning and delivery of projects or defined workstreams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Take the day-to-day responsibility for assigned scope, schedule, budget, quality and risk, working with Project Managers and Project Directors as appropriate.
- Contribute to owner-side project management commissions and multidisciplinary design delivery projects.
- Coordinate project teams, stakeholders, specialist consultants and technical disciplines.
- Coordinate project governance activities and facilitate workshops, client meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare project management plans, progress reports, dashboards and presentations.
- Maintain action logs, decision registers, risk registers and project performance reporting, ensuring information is accurate and actions are progressed.
- Manage financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting activities for assigned projects or workstreams.
- Coordinate project controls activities, including progress tracking, schedule reviews and performance reporting.
- Manage defined elements of commercial management, contract administration, change management and risk management processes.
- Identify emerging project and commercial issues, recommend actions and escalate significant matters appropriately.
- Contribute to proposals, pursuits and business development activities.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to junior team members, where appropriate.

Is this role right for you?
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or a related field.
- Approximately six years of experience in project management, project controls, commercial management, construction management or a related field.
- Experience managing projects or defined workstreams within engineering, infrastructure, construction or professional-services environments.
- Practical experience applying project management principles, including scope, schedule, cost, risk and stakeholder management.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of assigned outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to facilitate meetings and work directly with clients, project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Experience with project financial management, forecasting, reporting or commercial controls.
- Experience using project-management, collaboration, reporting or scheduling tools.
- A collaborative mindset, curiosity to learn and a desire to build a long-term career in project and program management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite is required. Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) and Primavera P6 are an advantage.

Sacramento Hiring Range
The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Sacramento is $115,000 to $125,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level.
