Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Director Of Clinical Education
Verify your credentials meet specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree to directly relate to clinical education leadership. A nursing or health sciences degree typically qualifies, but a general management degree without clinical coursework can trigger an RFE. Confirm alignment using O*NET before applying.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Director of Clinical Education roles by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this title. That history signals genuine H-1B sponsorship experience, not just willingness in principle.
Check prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for this SOC code in your target metro area. Your employer must meet that threshold in the LCA, so knowing it in advance prevents late-stage offer complications.
Prioritize healthcare systems over staffing agencies
Hospital networks and academic medical centers typically sponsor H-1B directly as cap-subject petitions. Staffing or contract firms placing clinical educators may use different arrangements that affect your status continuity when assignments end.
Time your application around the April cap filing window
H-1B cap registrations open in March for an October 1 start date. If you're negotiating a Director of Clinical Education offer in late spring, ask your employer whether they'll file in the next cap cycle or pursue a cap-exempt route through a nonprofit hospital affiliate.
Prepare a role-specific specialty occupation letter
USCIS scrutinizes clinical education titles that blend administrative and instructional duties. Ask your employer to draft a support letter detailing that the role requires specialized clinical knowledge, not just general management skills, to reduce RFE risk.

Find Director Of Clinical Education JobsDirector Of Clinical Education H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Director of Clinical Education role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS requires the position to normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific specialty. Director of Clinical Education roles typically require a degree in nursing, health sciences, or a related clinical field, which satisfies that standard. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field are more vulnerable to RFEs, so the job description language matters.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for clinical education directors?
Hospital systems, academic medical centers, nursing schools, and large outpatient networks are the most active sponsors for this title. Some are affiliated with nonprofit or government institutions, which can qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers and file year-round. You can search employers with verified H-1B filing history for this role on Migrate Mate.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect Director of Clinical Education offers?
Your employer must certify in the Labor Condition Application that your offered pay meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for this occupation in the work location. DOL sets four wage levels based on experience and supervisory responsibility. A director-level role typically falls at Level III or IV. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the applicable wage before finalizing your offer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new clinical education employer mid-status?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can begin working for a new employer as soon as they file a transfer petition, without waiting for approval, provided you've maintained valid H-1B status. The new employer must file a new LCA and I-129 petition. Your clinical education credentials and prior approval are not automatically transferred and must be re-documented.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for a Director of Clinical Education?
A strong petition includes a degree evaluation confirming your credentials meet U.S. equivalency, an employer support letter explaining why the role requires a clinically specialized degree, and your professional licenses if the position involves overseeing licensed staff. If your degree is in a tangential field, a detailed skills assessment and relevant work history help establish specialty occupation fit under USCIS guidelines.
