Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires your degree to directly relate to the Director of Delivery function. A background in computer science, information systems, or business with a technology concentration strengthens the specialty occupation argument far more than a general management degree.
Search LCA filing history before applying
Use Migrate Mate to filter Director of Delivery roles by employers with active H-1B LCA filing history, so you're targeting companies that have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor at this seniority level.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Run your target job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions. Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage, so knowing the floor shapes what you can realistically negotiate.
Flag your O*NET classification early in hiring
Director of Delivery maps to project and program management occupation codes in O*NET. Confirming the right SOC code with your prospective employer before the LCA is filed prevents misclassification that can trigger a Request for Evidence.
Time your application around the cap and premium processing
The H-1B cap opens in April for an October 1 start date. If you need an earlier start, ask your employer about cap-exempt organizations or premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days.
Prepare a scope-of-authority narrative for the petition
Senior delivery roles with budget authority, P&L responsibility, or cross-functional team oversight carry a stronger specialty occupation case. Document specific deliverables and decision-making scope your employer can reference when USCIS evaluates the position.

Find Director Of Delivery JobsDirector Of Delivery H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Director of Delivery role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer can demonstrate the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific discipline such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. Generic management degrees without a technical field alignment are harder to defend. The strongest petitions pair the job description directly to the required degree field and document why a generalist background would not suffice for the role.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for Director of Delivery positions?
Migrate Mate filters Director of Delivery openings by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you're not guessing which companies are willing to sponsor at this seniority level. Large technology services firms, consulting companies, and enterprise software organizations file LCAs for delivery leadership roles with the most frequency, so starting your search there is efficient.
Will a Director of Delivery title at a large consulting firm face more H-1B scrutiny than the same role at a product company?
Consulting and staffing-adjacent firms receive heavier USCIS scrutiny because of historical misuse of H-1B for body-shop placements. If your employer is a consulting firm, expect a stronger specialty occupation requirement: the petition should document your fixed role, defined deliverables, and that you won't be placed at third-party client sites under conditions that blur the employer-employee relationship.
Can I start a Director of Delivery job while my H-1B petition is pending?
Only if you're changing employers and your new employer filed a cap-exempt petition under portability rules before your current status expires, or if you're on an approved cap-gap extension while transitioning from F-1 OPT. Otherwise, you can't begin work until USCIS approves the petition. Premium processing reduces adjudication to 15 business days, which most employers sponsoring senior roles will agree to.
What happens to my H-1B if I'm laid off from a Director of Delivery role?
You have a 60-day grace period after involuntary termination to find a new sponsoring employer, file a change of status, or depart the country. Your new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before the grace period expires to maintain your lawful status. Senior delivery roles at companies actively filing LCAs are your fastest path to a transfer, so acting within the first two weeks of separation is important.
