Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Fuel Truck Driver
Verify your role meets specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For Fuel Truck Driver positions, document any engineering, logistics, or hazmat certifications that elevate the role beyond standard commercial driving.
Pull LCA filings for fuel and energy employers
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify which aviation, oil, or fleet companies have filed Labor Condition Applications for transportation or fuel operations roles. Employers with LCA history are already familiar with the H-1B filing process.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
STEM-adjacent or federal-contract fuel operations companies are often E-Verify participants, which signals compliance infrastructure for sponsorship. Prioritize these employers when targeting roles in airport fueling, defense logistics, or government fleet contracts.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Fuel Truck Driver openings at employers with verified H-1B filing history. This narrows your list to companies that have already navigated the DOL and USCIS filing process for similar roles.
Request the LCA before accepting any offer
Before signing an offer letter, ask the employer to confirm the LCA wage level matches your offered salary. If the LCA is filed at Level I but the role carries Level III responsibilities, USCIS may issue an RFE that delays or denies your petition.
Document hazmat and operational credentials early
Gather your CDL endorsements, hazmat certifications, and any specialized fuel-handling training records before the employer files Form I-129. USCIS reviewers assessing specialty occupation claims for driving roles scrutinize supporting documentation closely.
H-1B Visa Fuel Truck Driver: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Fuel Truck Driver role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
It depends on how the employer frames the position. Standard commercial driving roles don't meet the H-1B specialty occupation requirement, but positions that demand a bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics, or a related technical field can qualify. Employers in aviation fueling, energy infrastructure, or government fleet operations are most likely to structure the role this way.
What does the employer need to file before sponsoring me?
The employer must first file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and receive certification before submitting Form I-129 to USCIS. The LCA certifies that the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. You can verify prevailing wage rates for your specific occupation code using the OFLC Wage Search.
How do I find Fuel Truck Driver jobs with H-1B sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to browse Fuel Truck Driver openings filtered by employers with documented H-1B filing history. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored a visa and focuses your effort on employers already set up to file the LCA and I-129 on your behalf.
Does my CDL or hazmat endorsement help with the H-1B application?
Commercial licenses and hazmat endorsements strengthen the specialty occupation argument when combined with a relevant bachelor's degree, but they don't substitute for the degree requirement. Include them in your supporting documentation to demonstrate technical complexity and to show USCIS the role exceeds a general driving function.
What happens to my H-1B status if the employer terminates my role?
If your employer ends your employment before your H-1B period expires, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, change status, or depart the U.S. The new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before your grace period ends. USCIS allows you to start work with the new employer once the transfer petition is received, not just approved.
