ABOUT THE JOB
Product and Business Strategy Leaders bring together teams across Google’s functions to help products execute optimally. Our team pushes Google to scale at key points that refine our products and infrastructure by executing efficiently, bringing solid business sense and sound judgment, and working effectively across organizational lines.
Our roles often include components of strategy (e.g. analyzing and understanding new trends in the industry, building business plans), operations (e.g. running the cadence of organizations, connecting the operating lines between our functions), and communications. Our team partners with senior leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, PMs, UX, and all of our other functions to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.
In this role, you will act as a lead builder who doesn't just identify problems but designs the systems, frameworks, and coalitions necessary to solve them. You will flex between long-term initiatives and day-to-day operational excellence, and seamlessly transition from crunching the numbers to partnering with executive stakeholders on global issues. You will serve as a key organizational advisor with a heavy bias for action. You will use your process expertise to reduce risk, increase efficiency, and accelerate business strategy.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

- Design high-velocity team topologies and north star metric frameworks for ambiguous special projects.
- Audit execution against strategy to improve alignment and reduce cognitive load across the organization.
- Serve as a confidential executive advisor and mediator, synthesizing data into cohesive board-level narratives and using objective reasoning to resolve cross-functional deadlocks and unblock high-priority initiatives.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Operations Lead
Map your degree to the role
USCIS requires your degree field to directly support the Operations Lead position. A business administration or industrial engineering degree maps cleanly, but a general studies degree may trigger an RFE. Pull the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the accepted degree fields before applying.
Filter employers by LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to search Operations Lead roles by employers with active LCA filings. This shows you which companies already understand the H-1B process for this job title, cutting down wasted applications to employers unfamiliar with sponsoring operations roles.
Target E-Verify enrolled employers first
Employers enrolled in E-Verify are already set up for employment verification, which signals familiarity with work authorization compliance. For H-1B holders, this often means a smoother onboarding process and fewer delays between offer acceptance and your start date.
Clarify the specialty occupation case early
Operations Lead titles vary widely. Before accepting an offer, confirm the job duties require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just general management experience. Vague job descriptions weaken the specialty occupation argument and increase RFE risk during USCIS adjudication.
Request premium processing if your start date is firm
If your offer has a specific start date tied to a project launch or transition period, ask your employer to file with premium processing. USCIS adjudicates premium I-129 petitions within 15 business days, giving both sides certainty before you give notice at your current role.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Your employer's LCA must certify your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for Operations Lead in your work location. Run a search on OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions so you understand the wage floor and can negotiate above it, not below.

Find Operations Lead JobsOperations Lead H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Operations Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business administration, industrial engineering, or operations management. The key is that the degree requirement must be specific to the role, not just a general preference. Employers with vague job descriptions sometimes receive RFEs from USCIS asking them to clarify the degree requirement, so the offer letter and job posting language matter.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Operations Lead positions?
Manufacturing, logistics and supply chain, technology, and healthcare operations are the most active industries for H-1B sponsorship in Operations Lead roles. These sectors typically have structured HR processes and ongoing headcount that makes annual H-1B filing routine. You can browse Operations Lead roles filtered by employers with LCA filing history on Migrate Mate to identify active sponsors in your target industry.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Operations Lead role at a different employer?
Yes, H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer once they file a transfer petition, without waiting for USCIS approval, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. The new employer must file a new LCA for the Operations Lead position at your new work location and certify the prevailing wage. Material changes to duties or location require a new petition, not just an amendment.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Operations Lead role is restructured or my employer downsizes?
If your employment ends, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new H-1B sponsor, change to another visa status, or depart the U.S. During this window you can accept a new job offer and have a new employer file an H-1B transfer petition. You can't work during the grace period unless a new petition is filed and accepted. Acting quickly is important since the 60 days runs from your last day of employment.
Does an Operations Lead job title affect H-1B prevailing wage calculations?
Yes. The DOL assigns prevailing wages based on the Standard Occupational Classification code that matches your actual job duties, not just the job title. Operations Lead roles can map to different SOC codes depending on whether the focus is general operations, production supervision, or logistics management, and each carries a different wage level. Your employer determines the SOC code when filing the LCA, so confirm the mapping reflects your actual responsibilities before the petition is filed.
