Vice President, Demand & Growth Marketing
Are you energized by the challenge of unifying enterprise B2B demand generation and direct-to-user B2C growth into one integrated strategy that drives measurable impact?
Do you want the opportunity to build and scale a global demand and growth organization, shaping the team, systems, and strategy that connect healthcare professionals, students, institutions, and health systems worldwide?
About our Team:
Elsevier Health applies innovation, facilitates insights, and helps drive more informed decision-making for our customers across global health. We support health providers by providing accessible, trusted evidence-based information; prepare more medical and nursing students with effective tools and resources; provide insights that help clinicians improve patient outcomes; and support a more personalized and localized healthcare experience. All for the benefit of every patient.
About the role:
Elsevier Health operates at the intersection of two distinct growth motions: enterprise B2B — selling into health systems, universities, and institutions — and B2C direct, reaching individual clinicians, nurses, and students.
This VP will build and lead the single integrated demand and growth function that owns both — the B2B pipeline and the B2C direct funnel — with one shared media team, one channel strategy, and one accountability structure.
This is a T-shaped operator: someone with genuine depth in either B2B or B2C, and the ability to lead both. You will set the demand generation strategy, alongside the direct to end user strategy, and build the team and systems that deliver it at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with Product Marketing VPs to develop cohesive strategy for B2B and B2C in line with annual commercial goals.
- Own the integrated demand generation strategy across B2B enterprise pipeline and B2C direct acquisition — setting targets, channel mix, and budget allocation.
- Lead a team responsible for B2B marketing program and B2C including product websites. Evolve approach to ensure clear B2B2C hand offs and measurement approach.
- Lead the paid media team, leveraging a shared channel infrastructure, and creating new measurement and optimization approach.
- Build and own the cross-motion attribution model in partnership with Marketing Intelligence & Strategy, Customer Experience & Events, and Finance.
- Drive performance marketing at scale: paid search, paid social, programmatic, affiliate, and lifecycle across both motions.
- Set the acquisition strategy for B2C — understanding the distinct funnels for Osmosis, ClinicalKey AI, and Complete Anatomy direct purchasers.
- Partner with VP, Marketing Intelligence & Strategy on audience intelligence, segmentation, and investment optimization.
- Present performance & optimization approach to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
Requirements
- 12+ years of growth or demand generation experience; 4+ years in a senior leadership role owning pipeline or revenue targets.
- Track record of building and scaling demand generation in a complex, multi-motion environment (B2B and B2C, or enterprise and consumer).
- Deep fluency in performance marketing channels — paid search, paid social, programmatic, lifecycle/CRM — with the ability to build strategy and challenge the team on execution.
- Strong analytical instincts: you are comfortable owning a number, diagnosing pipeline problems, and adjusting levers quickly.
- Direct experience with AI-powered marketing tools, personalization platforms, and the emerging landscape of autonomous content operations.
- People leadership experience: you have built and led high-performing analytical and strategic marketing teams. Ability to attract, develop, and retain exceptional marketing talent.
- Experience buying media in-house coupled with experience outsourcing media buying to a partner.
- Experience with CRM (Salesforce), Marketing Automation (Braze, Marketo or HubSpot), and attribution or BI platforms.
- Experience in health tech, edtech, or professional information markets — particularly where enterprise and direct revenue coexist.
- Familiarity with HCP or clinical professional marketing and the compliance considerations involved.
- Track record of building & scaling new marketing programs and approaches – this is a role that will require innovative thinking and creativity to shape the next chapter of Health marketing.

Align your credentials to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS evaluates whether your degree directly relates to growth marketing functions. A general business degree works if your transcript shows coursework in analytics, digital marketing, or consumer behavior. Document the connection explicitly in your resume and cover letter before applying.
Search LCA filings to vet employer intent
Use the OFLC Wage Search to pull Labor Condition Application filings under the Marketing Managers SOC code 11-2021. Employers who have filed recently for this exact role type are structurally set up to sponsor you, cutting negotiation friction significantly.
Target companies enrolled in E-Verify
For STEM-adjacent marketing roles at tech companies, E-Verify enrollment is a reliable proxy for H-1B sponsorship readiness. Filter your outreach toward employers already in the system, since they've built compliance infrastructure that makes your petition smoother to process.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified H-1B sponsors
Pull Growth Marketing Director roles filtered by confirmed H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate. This surfaces employers who have sponsored this specific role type before, so you spend time on offers that can realistically clear the H-1B petition and LCA certification process.
Negotiate cap-subject timing before signing
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only start on October 1 after an April lottery. Confirm with the hiring manager whether the role is cap-exempt before you accept. If it isn't, your start date is fixed by statute regardless of when the offer is made.
Request premium processing in your offer discussion
Growth Marketing Director roles often carry revenue targets tied to Q1 or Q2 ramps. USCIS premium processing adjudicates your I-129 within 15 business days. Ask your future employer to include it in the sponsorship commitment before you leave a competing offer behind.
H-1B Visa Growth Marketing Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Growth Marketing Director role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS classifies Marketing Managers under SOC code 11-2021, and the agency's policy guidance confirms that roles requiring a specialized bachelor's degree meet the specialty occupation standard. Your employer must document in the I-129 petition that the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, business analytics, or a directly related field, and that your degree aligns with those duties.
What happens to my H-1B if I'm laid off from a Growth Marketing Director role?
You have a 60-day grace period after involuntary termination to find a new sponsor, change status, or depart the U.S. During that window, you can't work, but you can negotiate with a new employer and have a new I-129 filed on your behalf. If your new employer files before the grace period ends, you maintain lawful status while USCIS adjudicates the transfer petition.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Growth Marketing Director role without restarting the process?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, if your original I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days, you can port to a new employer in a same or similar occupational classification without losing your priority date. For Growth Marketing Director roles, the new position must fall under the same Marketing Managers SOC code or a closely related management function. Your new employer files an H-1B transfer petition, and you can start working as soon as it's received by USCIS.
How do I find Growth Marketing Director jobs where the employer already sponsors H-1B visas?
Search for Growth Marketing Director roles on Migrate Mate, which filters positions by verified H-1B LCA filing history. This shows you which employers have filed Labor Condition Applications for marketing management roles before, giving you a concrete signal of sponsorship willingness rather than relying on job postings that often omit visa details entirely.
Does the H-1B lottery affect my chances of landing a Growth Marketing Director role?
It depends on your employer type. Cap-subject employers, typically private-sector companies without a university affiliation, must enter you in the annual H-1B lottery held each April, with a cap of 85,000 visas. Cap-exempt employers, including universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government-affiliated entities, can file year-round without lottery exposure. Senior marketing roles in academic medical centers or research institutions are worth targeting specifically for this reason.
