Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
H-1B approval for laundry roles hinges on demonstrating that a specific bachelor's degree is normally required for the position. Textile science, industrial engineering, or facilities management degrees strengthen the specialty occupation argument over a general business degree.
Search LCA filings for laundry employers
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for laundry or textile services occupations. Employers with prior LCA certifications in this category have already cleared a key H-1B eligibility hurdle for the role.
Target hospitals and hotel chains first
Healthcare systems and large hotel groups operate high-volume in-house laundry facilities that require industrial engineers or operations managers. These institutional employers are more likely to have existing H-1B sponsorship infrastructure than standalone commercial laundry businesses.
Check the O*NET profile before applying
Laundry occupations span multiple SOC codes with different education requirements. Review the O*NET profile for your specific role to confirm it's classified at a job zone requiring a bachelor's degree, which is the threshold USCIS uses for specialty occupation determinations.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with verified H-1B filing history in laundry and textile services. Filtering by employers who have sponsored similar roles saves time and surfaces companies already familiar with the specialty occupation argument for this field.
Confirm your employer files before cap season
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. Your employer must file Form I-129 after lottery selection. Confirm early whether your employer works with immigration counsel and has budget allocated, since delays past the filing window forfeit your selection slot.
H-1B Visa Laundry: Frequently Asked Questions
Do laundry jobs actually qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Laundry roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship only if the specific position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field as a normal entry requirement. Industrial laundry operations manager, textile quality engineer, or facilities engineer roles tied to degree requirements can meet the specialty occupation standard. General laundry worker or attendant roles typically don't qualify because they don't require a specific bachelor's degree.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for laundry positions?
Large healthcare systems, hotel chains, and commercial textile services companies are the most common sponsors for laundry-adjacent H-1B roles. These employers have established HR and legal infrastructure for visa filings. You can search Migrate Mate to find employers with verified H-1B filing history in laundry and textile operations, which is a faster starting point than cold-searching corporate career pages.
What prevailing wage level applies to H-1B laundry roles?
The prevailing wage for your specific role depends on the SOC code your employer uses in the Labor Condition Application and the geographic location of the worksite. You can look up the applicable wage tier using the OFLC Wage Search by entering the relevant occupation code and location. Your employer must certify they'll pay at least the prevailing wage before USCIS will approve the H-1B petition.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new laundry employer mid-year?
Yes, H-1B portability allows you to transfer to a new employer once your initial petition has been pending for 180 days or has been approved. The new employer must file a new I-129 petition before your employment begins. Your existing H-1B status and authorized stay carry over during the transfer, but the new role must still satisfy the specialty occupation requirement independently.
What documents should I gather before an H-1B filing for a laundry role?
You'll need your official academic transcripts showing a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, any professional certifications in textile or industrial management, and documentation linking your degree to the specific job duties your employer will describe in the petition. If your degree is from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization may be required to confirm U.S. degree equivalency for USCIS review.
