Align your degree to the role
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to lifecycle marketing. A business or marketing degree is straightforward, but a psychology or data science degree can qualify if your coursework covers consumer behavior or segmentation strategy.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Lifecycle marketing roles typically file under SOC code 11-2021 or 13-1161. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find employers who've filed LCAs under those codes, then target your applications to companies with recent, active filings.
Filter for employers with H-1B filing history
Use Migrate Mate to surface employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history for marketing roles, so you're applying to companies that have already built a sponsorship process rather than ones encountering it for the first time.
Negotiate your offer before the LCA is filed
Once your employer submits the LCA, the offered wage is locked in for the DOL certification period. Settle your compensation, title, and work location before filing starts, since changes after LCA submission can require refiling.
Confirm your role meets specialty occupation criteria
Lifecycle marketing sits in a gray zone if the job description emphasizes execution over strategy. Ask your employer to document that the role requires specialized degree-level knowledge, not just campaign operations, to reduce your RFE exposure at USCIS.
Time your application around the April cap season
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you're still on OPT, check your EAD expiration against the cap-gap rule, which automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 if your petition is timely filed.
H-1B Visa Lifecycle Marketing Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Lifecycle Marketing Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, business, or communications. Roles focused on CRM strategy, customer segmentation, and retention analytics generally meet the specialty occupation standard. Roles where the employer accepts any degree field or treats the position as general marketing operations face higher scrutiny from USCIS.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for lifecycle marketing roles?
Search Migrate Mate to browse Lifecycle Marketing Manager roles filtered by employers with H-1B LCA filing history. Verified filing history tells you the employer has already completed at least one DOL certification for a comparable role, which means the sponsorship process is familiar to their HR or legal team rather than something they're figuring out for the first time.
What happens to my H-1B status if I move from one lifecycle marketing role to a different one?
Changing employers requires your new employer to file an H-1B transfer petition before you start. You can begin working for the new employer as soon as USCIS receives the petition, under H-1B portability rules, without waiting for approval. If your new role has a materially different job description or SOC code, USCIS reviews the amended petition as a new specialty occupation determination.
Can a lifecycle marketing role at a startup sponsor an H-1B?
Yes, company size doesn't determine H-1B eligibility, but startups face extra scrutiny. USCIS may issue an RFE if the employer lacks an established payroll history or if the organizational structure doesn't clearly support a specialized marketing function. Having documented evidence of revenue, a clear reporting structure, and a role description that specifies degree-level requirements strengthens the petition.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement apply to lifecycle marketing positions?
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your specific occupation and work location before filing the LCA. Lifecycle marketing roles typically fall under marketing manager or market research analyst wage levels depending on the job duties. You can look up the applicable prevailing wage for your location and job title using the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offer is compliant before the LCA is submitted.
