H-1B Visa Poker Dealer Jobs
Poker Dealer roles sit in a gray zone for H-1B sponsorship: the position requires specialized skill, but employers must demonstrate it meets the specialty occupation threshold requiring a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Casino and gaming employers with active H-1B filing history are your clearest path to a sponsored offer.

Build a specialty occupation argument early
USCIS requires your role to need a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Document any gaming management coursework, hospitality degrees, or surveillance and compliance training that ties your credentials directly to the Poker Dealer position.
Target tribal and commercial casino operators
Large tribal casinos and publicly traded gaming companies are far more likely to have in-house immigration counsel and prior H-1B filing experience than smaller card rooms. Focus your search on employers whose HR teams already understand the sponsorship process.
Search employer LCA filings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history for gaming and hospitality roles. This shows you which casino operators have sponsored H-1B workers before, so you're not starting from scratch with an inexperienced employer.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Look up the Poker Dealer SOC code in the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation. Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the prevailing level for your work location, so knowing the floor prevents surprises after you've already agreed on a number.
Ask about cap-exempt status during interviews
Casinos affiliated with qualifying nonprofit research or educational institutions may file as cap-exempt, bypassing the annual H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm whether your prospective employer holds that status before counting on a guaranteed filing slot.
Plan for the 60-day grace period between roles
If you're changing casino employers after a layoff or contract end, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period before your H-1B status lapses. Your new employer's I-129 petition must be filed before that window closes, so get the offer paperwork moving immediately.

Find Poker Dealer JobsPoker Dealer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Poker Dealer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
This is the central challenge for Poker Dealer H-1B cases. USCIS requires the position to normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific related field. Many dealers hold gaming certifications or hospitality degrees, but employers must build a strong argument connecting those credentials to the role's duties. Cases without a clear degree requirement face higher scrutiny and Request for Evidence rates.
Which types of employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for Poker Dealers?
Large tribal gaming operations, integrated resort casinos, and publicly traded gaming companies are the most viable sponsors. These employers tend to have established immigration legal teams and prior H-1B filing experience. You can browse verified employers with active LCA filing histories for gaming and hospitality roles directly on Migrate Mate, which filters results by sponsorship activity.
What does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement mean for Poker Dealer positions?
Before filing your H-1B petition, your employer must certify a Labor Condition Application with DOL confirming your offered wage meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for your specific role and work location. You can verify the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search tool before your offer negotiation to confirm the employer's proposed compensation is compliant.
Can a Poker Dealer employer file an H-1B petition outside the annual lottery cap?
A small number of casino employers qualify as cap-exempt if they're affiliated with qualifying nonprofit or government research institutions. If your employer holds that status, USCIS will accept the I-129 petition year-round without waiting for the April lottery. Confirm cap-exempt eligibility directly with the employer's HR or immigration counsel before assuming you can bypass the cap.
What happens to my H-1B status if my casino employer terminates my employment?
USCIS provides a 60-day grace period after involuntary termination during which you remain in valid H-1B status. During that window, a new employer can file a portability petition to transfer your H-1B, or you can shift to a different authorized status. Once the 60 days expire without an active filing, your status lapses and working becomes unauthorized.
