You will ensure our products are positioned with the technical credibility and business relevance that resonates across the full sales motion, from field enablement to strategic enterprise deals. You think like a product manager, communicate like a marketer, and engage like a technologist.
Responsibilities
Product Technical Marketing and Content

- Produce high-quality technical content including videos, demos, deployment guides, and proof-of-value narratives that bring to life the speed, agility, cost efficiency, and architectural advantages of our infrastructure solutions.
- Co-author vendor-specific deployment guides and collaborate with product teams on Colocation and Equinix Managed Solutions implementation templates (high-level and low-level design).
- Stay current on AI infrastructure trends and the evolving customer behaviors driving AI adoption, translating that intelligence into actionable content and positioning.

- Support the development of product-specific value narratives and ROI frameworks ensuring our positioning speaks the language of the buyer across key verticals.
- Provide strategic support for complex Strategic and Enterprise deals, lending data-driven insights that help move opportunities forward.
Customer and Field Engagement
- Serve as a senior technical point of contact for strategic customer engagements, supporting planning, design, implementation, and escalation in partnership with product and field teams.
- Backstop Global Solution Architects, Technical Account Managers, and Support Services on targeted product offerings, providing depth where it matters most.
- Coordinate pilot and beta engagements with product teams to validate new features and drive customer success from day one.
Product Strategy and Feedback
- Deliver rigorous competitive analysis across direct and indirect competitors, with a focus on clearly positioning our infrastructure portfolio where it wins.
- Feed product development with actionable insights grounded in hands-on experience, customer engagement, and market observation.
- Maintain technical repositories, presentation assets, and community engagement materials that reflect the current state of our portfolio and roadmap.
REQUIREMENTS
- 12+ years of experience in technical marketing, product management, or sales engineering in networking, cloud, or infrastructure domains.
- 1+ years of experience working in a data center business, experience with private cloud, hybrid cloud, positioning of each and why one might be better than another in a particular situation.
- Proven ability to bridge product innovation and customer adoption—developing technical assets and narratives that resonate across both technical and business audiences.
- Deep fluency in the Colocation market, hybrid cloud architectures, infrastructure managed services, and the strategic reasons customers choose on-premises and colocation environments over hyperscalers.
- Strong understanding of AI infrastructure trends and the role of physical infrastructure in enabling enterprise AI at scale.
- Experience navigating and enabling vendor ecosystems, including partners such as Dell, NVIDIA, HPE, Accenture, WWT, and others across the channel.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with the ability to move fluidly between deep technical content and business-level narrative.

Map your degree to specialty occupation requirements
USCIS evaluates whether your degree directly relates to product marketing. A business or marketing degree maps cleanly, but an unrelated field requires a credentials evaluation showing coursework equivalent to a U.S. marketing degree before your employer files.
Check employer LCA history before applying
Use Migrate Mate to filter Product Marketing Director roles by verified LCA filing history, so you're targeting companies that have already certified prevailing wages for this title rather than ones new to H-1B sponsorship.
Target companies with dedicated immigration counsel
Large tech and SaaS companies typically have in-house or retained immigration attorneys who run H-1B filings routinely. At smaller firms, ask during the offer stage whether they have a preferred immigration law firm before accepting.
Time your job search around the April lottery window
H-1B cap registration opens in March for an April 1 start date. Secure your offer and complete employer paperwork by early February so your employer can register you in the lottery without rushing the LCA certification at DOL.
Confirm your role's SOC code in the LCA
Product Marketing Director positions are typically filed under a marketing managers SOC code. Review the O*NET profile for that code to confirm your actual duties align, since a mismatch between the LCA job duties and your real work can trigger an RFE.
Negotiate premium processing into your offer
Standard H-1B adjudication can take several months. Ask employers to include USCIS premium processing in your offer letter so your petition receives a 15-business-day decision, which matters if you're transitioning off OPT or another expiring status.
H-1B Visa Product Marketing Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Marketing Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes. USCIS treats Product Marketing Director as a specialty occupation because the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a closely related field. If your employer's job description lists a degree as preferred rather than required, ask them to revise the posting before filing to avoid an RFE on specialty occupation grounds.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for product marketing roles?
Migrate Mate surfaces Product Marketing Director jobs filtered by verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you can see which employers have certified prevailing wages for this title at specific work locations. This is more reliable than guessing from company size or industry, since sponsorship willingness varies even within the same sector.
Can my employer file an H-1B for a fully remote Product Marketing Director position?
Yes, but the LCA must list every location where you'll work more than occasionally. If you work from home in a different metro area than your employer's headquarters, the LCA must include your home address location and certify the prevailing wage for that area, which may differ from the corporate office rate.
What happens to my H-1B if I get promoted from Senior Manager to Product Marketing Director?
A promotion that changes your SOC code, job duties, or work location requires an amended H-1B petition before you assume the new role. Your employer must file a new LCA reflecting the Director title and prevailing wage for that level. You can start working in the new role once the amended petition is filed, not after approval.
Is a Product Marketing Director role eligible for cap-exempt H-1B filing?
Only if your employer qualifies as cap-exempt, meaning it's a nonprofit research organization, institution of higher education, or affiliated nonprofit entity. Most companies hiring for this title are cap-subject, so your petition must go through the annual lottery. If you're already on a valid H-1B, transfers to a new cap-subject employer don't require re-entering the lottery.
