Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Sales Manager
Document your specialty occupation case early
Sales Manager petitions draw more USCIS scrutiny than technical roles because officers question whether the job truly requires a degree. Gather job postings, internal org charts, and employer policy statements showing a bachelor's degree is a baseline requirement, not a preference.
Search LCA filings by SOC code
Sales Managers file under SOC code 11-2022. Run that code through the OFLC Wage Search to see which employers have active Labor Condition Applications, how many positions they've certified, and what wage levels they've committed to in your target metro.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
E-Verify enrollment signals an employer already has compliance infrastructure for work authorization. For H-1B purposes, it also becomes mandatory for STEM OPT employers, making these companies more familiar with sponsorship paperwork than those who've never enrolled.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Run your search on Migrate Mate to surface Sales Manager roles at employers with verified H-1B filing history. You can filter by industry and location so you're only applying to companies that have already navigated the sponsorship process for this occupation.
Negotiate offer timing around cap deadlines
H-1B cap petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer in June, your earliest cap-subject start date is the following October. Clarify this timeline with hiring managers before signing, so neither side is surprised by the gap.
Build a prevailing wage paper trail before interviews
Pull the Level II and Level III prevailing wage figures for Sales Manager in your target city from the OFLC Wage Search. Walking into salary discussions with DOL wage data lets you anchor the conversation at a number USCIS will approve without an RFE.

Find Sales Manager JobsSales Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but USCIS examines Sales Manager petitions closely because the occupation covers a wide range of industries and seniority levels. Your employer must show that the specific position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, such as business administration, marketing, or a field tied to the industry being managed. Generic management duties without that degree nexus increase the risk of a Request for Evidence.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Sales Manager positions?
Technology, pharmaceutical, financial services, and enterprise software companies account for a large share of H-1B Labor Condition Applications filed for Sales Manager roles. These industries typically require technical product knowledge that ties a degree requirement to the job. You can verify active LCA filings by employer and industry using the OFLC Wage Search before targeting your applications. Migrate Mate surfaces this filing history so you can prioritize employers with a track record of sponsoring this occupation.
Can my employer sponsor me for an H-1B if I'm currently on OPT as a Sales Manager?
Yes. Your employer files an H-1B cap registration in March, and if selected, submits the full petition in April. If your OPT expires before October 1, the cap-gap rule extends your work authorization automatically, provided you remain employed with the same employer who filed your petition. You must monitor your OPT end date carefully, because the cap-gap only applies if your I-20 extension is issued before your current EAD expires.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect Sales Manager H-1B sponsorship?
Your employer must certify on the Labor Condition Application that your salary meets at least the Level I prevailing wage set by DOL for Sales Managers in your specific metro area. Most H-1B sponsors target Level II or higher to reduce RFE risk and demonstrate the role matches the experience they're hiring for. You can look up prevailing wage levels by location and job title using the OFLC Wage Search before finalizing your offer negotiation.
What should I look for in an employer's H-1B filing history before applying?
Look for employers who have filed LCAs specifically for Sales Manager or closely related SOC codes, not just for technical roles. An employer who has only sponsored software engineers may be unfamiliar with the specialty occupation argument for sales leadership positions and less equipped to defend an RFE. Check whether they use an experienced immigration counsel and whether their LCA filings show consistent wage levels. Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B sponsorship history so you can target employers with relevant filing experience from the start.
