Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Marketing Account Manager
Document your degree's direct relevance
USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree field directly relates to account management. Pull your transcripts and highlight marketing, communications, or business coursework. A degree in an unrelated field weakens the specialty occupation argument and invites an RFE.
Target agencies with dedicated immigration counsel
Mid-size and large marketing agencies that retain in-house or outside immigration attorneys process H-1B petitions faster and with fewer errors. Check LCA disclosure data through OFLC to confirm an employer has filed for marketing roles before applying.
Verify your role's prevailing wage tier early
Account manager titles span four DOL wage levels. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your metro area before negotiating your offer. Your employer's LCA must certify the wage at or above Level I through IV for your specific location and job duties.
Search Migrate Mate for H-1B filing history
Filter by account management and marketing roles on Migrate Mate to see which employers have active LCA filing history. Targeting companies with a track record of sponsoring marketing positions reduces the risk of an employer backing out after an offer.
Clarify client-site work arrangements before filing
If your role requires working at client offices, your employer must file an amended LCA for each worksite. Confirm this with your employer's counsel before the I-129 is submitted to avoid compliance violations and processing delays.
Use the 60-day grace period strategically
If your H-1B employment ends, USCIS grants a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer. Account managers with active client relationships are often competitive candidates; start outreach to agencies immediately rather than waiting until the final weeks.
H-1B Visa Marketing Account Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Account Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as marketing, communications, advertising, or business. USCIS evaluates the job duties, not just the title. If the employer's job description accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field, the specialty occupation argument weakens and an RFE becomes more likely.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Marketing Account Manager positions?
Advertising agencies, marketing technology companies, PR firms, and large consumer brands with in-house agency teams are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for this role. You can browse verified H-1B sponsoring employers for marketing account management positions on Migrate Mate, which surfaces companies with confirmed LCA filing history for these roles.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement affect my account manager offer?
Your employer must file an LCA certifying your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and work location. Account manager wages are stratified across four DOL wage levels based on experience and complexity. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the Level I through IV thresholds for your metro area before accepting an offer.
Can I work on client sites as an H-1B Marketing Account Manager?
Yes, but your employer must include each client worksite on the LCA or file an amended LCA if you begin working at a new location not covered by the original petition. For account managers who rotate across client offices, this is a common compliance gap. Confirm your employer's process for worksite additions with their immigration counsel before you start.
What happens to my H-1B status if I change employers or agencies?
H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to start working for a new sponsoring employer once they file an H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your current H-1B was approved and you've maintained valid status. Your new employer files a fresh I-129 and LCA. The 60-day grace period applies if your employment ends before a transfer petition is filed.
