H-1B Visa Servicenow Developer Jobs
ServiceNow Developer roles qualify as H-1B visa specialty occupations under the software developer SOC code, meaning your employer files the LCA with DOL before petitioning USCIS. Large enterprises in healthcare, finance, and federal contracting are consistent sponsors, and the annual cap applies unless your employer holds cap-exempt status.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Servicenow Developer
Verify your SOC code before applying
ServiceNow Developer roles typically file under SOC 15-1252 (Software Developers). Confirm the employer's LCA uses this code, not a generic IT title, since a mismatch between your duties and the SOC classification can trigger an RFE.
Target cap-exempt employers strategically
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, so your H-1B petition skips the lottery entirely. Federal agencies and hospital networks that run ServiceNow ITSM platforms hire developers year-round under this exemption.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter ServiceNow Developer roles by employers with active LCA filing history on Migrate Mate. This shows you which companies have already certified prevailing wages for this title, cutting out guesswork about whether sponsorship is real or just stated in a job posting.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for SOC 15-1252 in your target metro. Your offer must meet or exceed the certified wage tier, so knowing the floor before negotiating protects both your status and your leverage.
Document ServiceNow certifications for specialty occupation
USCIS scrutinizes whether ServiceNow development requires a specific bachelor's degree. Holding certifications like Certified Application Developer or Certified Implementation Specialist, alongside a CS or MIS degree, strengthens the employer's specialty occupation argument in the I-129 petition.
Clarify portability rights before accepting an offer
If you're transferring an existing H-1B rather than filing a new cap-subject petition, you can start work once your new employer files the I-129, not after approval. Confirm the employer understands H-1B portability under AC21 to avoid an unnecessary gap between roles.
H-1B Visa Servicenow Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a ServiceNow Developer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS classifies ServiceNow Developer positions under the software developer SOC code, which meets the specialty occupation standard because the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Employers strengthen the petition by documenting that the specific ServiceNow platform work, including scripting, workflow automation, and integration development, requires that specialized degree.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for ServiceNow Developers most consistently?
Healthcare systems, financial institutions, federal contractors, and large enterprises running ServiceNow ITSM or HRSD platforms are the most consistent sponsors. Cap-exempt employers such as universities and nonprofit research organizations are worth prioritizing because they can file at any time of year without lottery risk. Migrate Mate lets you filter ServiceNow Developer roles by verified LCA filing history so you can identify active sponsors directly.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new ServiceNow Developer role without waiting for approval?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules you can begin work at the new employer as soon as the new I-129 petition is filed, provided your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days and you're moving to a same or similar occupational classification. ServiceNow Developer transfers typically qualify because the SOC code and core duties remain consistent across employers.
What happens to my H-1B if my ServiceNow project ends and my employer has no immediate assignment?
Your employer is required to continue paying your certified prevailing wage during any benching period, even without an active project, until they formally withdraw the H-1B petition. If employment ends, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsor, transfer your petition, or change status. USCIS does not extend this window, so starting your job search immediately after a layoff is critical.
Does a three-year bachelor's degree qualify for H-1B specialty occupation in a ServiceNow Developer role?
It can, but the employer must establish equivalency. USCIS accepts a three-year degree combined with progressive work experience when an evaluator certifies it is equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree. For ServiceNow Developer roles, documented experience in platform development, integration scripting, or ITSM implementation strengthens the equivalency argument alongside the academic credential evaluation.
