This individual will be highly collaborative, externally credible, and capable of driving both strategic direction and tangible commercial outcomes across Wellington’s Multi-Asset and broader Solutions platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with investment line management to define and execute Wellington’s global Multi-Asset Solutions commercial strategy, including determining where and how the firm can differentiate and win against established OCIO providers, consultants, and open-architecture solution models.
- Serve as a senior commercial leader for the Multi-Asset Solutions business globally, helping align commercialization efforts across regions, client channels, and investment teams.
- Take a more direct and hands-on commercial leadership role for Multi-Asset Solutions opportunities in partnership with our product specialists including helping originate, shape, and advance strategic institutional pursuits.
- Lead commercialization efforts for Multi-Asset Solutions within the Americas Institutional channel, while also promoting the broader Wellington Solutions platform across QIG, Equity Solutions, and related capabilities.
- Work closely with existing regional and channel-based solutions teams across institutional and wealth businesses to improve coordination, consistency of messaging, and commercial effectiveness for Multi-Asset Solutions.
- Establish strong partnerships with institutional business developers to broaden awareness and adoption of Wellington’s solutions capabilities across institutional clients.
- Partner closely with other product strategists to identify, advance, and appropriately transition commercial opportunities related to QIG and Equity Solutions capabilities.
- Engage directly with institutional investors, consultants, and prospects to present Wellington’s investment and solutions capabilities, uncover client challenges, and develop strategic investment dialogue.
- Act as a senior commercial bridge between investment teams and distribution teams, ensuring complex investment capabilities are translated into clear, compelling, and differentiated client solutions.
- Maintain deep awareness of institutional market trends, competitor positioning, consultant dynamics, and evolving client demands to help inform commercial priorities and strategic positioning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of industry experience, with the majority spent in senior commercialization, or multi-asset solutions business development roles at a leading global investment organization.
- Demonstrated success commercializing multi-asset solutions with institutional investors and consultants, including public private experience.
- Deep understanding of institutional portfolio construction, asset allocation, OCIO models, and public/private investment solutions.
- Strong technical investment knowledge across multi-asset, quantitative, and equity solutions - with strong emphasis on the former.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally and operate effectively within highly collaborative environments.

Map your degree to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Solutions Director role. If your degree is in a tangential field, gather employer job postings and industry standards showing that a specific degree is normally required for this position.
Check prevailing wages before salary negotiations
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your metro area before your offer letter is drafted. DOL sets four wage levels, and a Level III or IV designation is typical for a Solutions Director with management scope.
Target employers with active H-1B LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Solutions Director roles by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you're applying to companies that have already navigated the sponsorship process for comparable positions.
Ask about cap-exempt status early in the process
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, meaning they can file your H-1B petition outside the annual lottery. A Solutions Director role at a qualifying institution can bypass the April registration window entirely.
Document your management scope before the I-129 is filed
USCIS scrutinizes senior titles more carefully when the duties overlap with general business operations. Work with your employer to prepare a detailed job duties letter that ties each responsibility to a specific specialized knowledge requirement before the I-129 petition is submitted.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment at offer stage
H-1B sponsors must be enrolled in E-Verify. Asking for confirmation before you accept an offer protects you from discovering a compliance gap after you've already resigned from your current role or let your OPT clock run.
H-1B Visa Solutions Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solutions Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer can demonstrate that the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as information technology, business administration, or engineering. Generic management duties alone may not be sufficient. The job description needs to show that specialized, theoretical knowledge is a baseline requirement, not just a preference.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for Solutions Director roles specifically?
Migrate Mate lets you search Solutions Director jobs filtered by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you're not guessing about sponsorship willingness. You can also cross-reference the DOL's public LCA disclosure data to see which companies have certified labor conditions for comparable senior director-level positions in your target metro area.
What wage level should I expect on an H-1B LCA for a Solutions Director position?
DOL assigns one of four prevailing wage levels based on experience, supervision, and complexity. Solutions Director roles typically fall at Level III or Level IV given the management scope and strategic decision-making involved. Your employer must pay at least the prevailing wage for your geographic area, which you can verify using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I'm promoted to Solutions Director at a different company?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can begin working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, as long as your current H-1B is in a valid status. The new employer files a fresh I-129 covering the Solutions Director duties, and the LCA must reflect the prevailing wage for the new location and role scope.
Will USCIS issue an RFE for a Solutions Director H-1B petition?
Requests for Evidence are more common for senior business titles where the specialty occupation connection isn't immediately obvious from the job title alone. USCIS may ask for evidence showing that a specific degree is standard for the role, industry surveys, O*NET occupational data, or third-party job postings requiring equivalent qualifications. A well-documented petition with a detailed duties letter significantly reduces this risk.
