H-1B1 Chile Visa Estimator Jobs
Estimator jobs in construction, engineering, and manufacturing regularly qualify for H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship because the role meets the specialty occupation standard under the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement. Chilean nationals face no lottery and a 1,400-visa annual cap that has never been exhausted, with applications processed directly at the consulate.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Estimator Jobs
Translate your credentials before applying
Chilean engineering or quantity-surveying degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency before your employer files the Labor Condition Application. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency so your sponsor can confirm specialty occupation standing without delays.
Target industries with active LCA filings
Construction management firms, civil engineering consultancies, and industrial contractors file LCAs for Estimator roles far more often than general staffing agencies. Focus your outreach on companies with active DOL filings in SOC code 13-1051 to find sponsors already familiar with the H-1B1 Chile process.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with confirmed H-1B1 visa Chile LCA filing history by occupation code, so you can target companies that have sponsored Estimator roles before rather than guessing which firms will entertain the conversation.
Verify your offered wage meets the prevailing rate
Your employer's LCA must certify that your wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your metro area and experience level. Check your role against the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating an offer to avoid a wage-driven LCA denial.
Clarify the consular process with your employer early
Unlike H-1B visa, the H-1B1 Chile visa is approved at a U.S. consulate in Chile, not by USCIS. Many employers mistakenly assume the process mirrors H-1B visa. Confirm your sponsor understands that no I-129 petition is filed with USCIS and that you'll attend a consular interview in Santiago or another qualifying post.
Plan renewal timing around project cycles
H-1B1 Chile status is granted in one-year increments. Estimators on multi-year infrastructure or construction contracts should confirm with their employer that LCA renewals are calendared well before each expiry, since a lapsed LCA disrupts your authorization to work regardless of project continuity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Estimator role qualify as a specialty occupation under H-1B1 Chile?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as construction management, civil engineering, or a quantitative discipline. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field, or where the degree is merely preferred rather than required, may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard. Your employer's LCA filing must reflect a genuine degree requirement tied to the job duties.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from H-1B for Estimator roles?
The H-1B1 Chile visa has no lottery and a 1,400-visa annual cap that consistently goes unfilled, so there's no random selection risk that blocks you from starting a role on a specific date. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Chile does not confer dual intent, meaning it can't be a direct stepping stone to a green card the way H-1B can. For Estimators focused on near-term employment rather than permanent residency, the H-1B1 Chile path is typically faster and more predictable.
How can I find employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas for Estimators?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history at the occupation level, so you can identify construction, engineering, and manufacturing employers who have already sponsored Estimator roles under this visa category rather than approaching companies cold. This narrows your search to sponsors with demonstrated familiarity with the H-1B1 Chile process.
What documentation do I need to prepare before a sponsoring employer files the LCA?
You'll need a credential evaluation confirming your Chilean degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in a relevant field, your official transcripts translated into English, and any professional certifications relevant to estimating work in your sector. Your employer uses these to document specialty occupation eligibility in the LCA and, if requested, during the consular interview stage. Having these ready before offer negotiations shortens the timeline significantly.
Can I switch employers while on H-1B1 Chile status if a better Estimator role comes up?
You can change employers, but because H-1B1 Chile has no statutory portability provision equivalent to H-1B's AC21 rule, you generally cannot begin work for the new employer until the new employer's LCA is certified by DOL and you have valid H-1B1 Chile status tied to that new position. In practice this often means a brief interruption or a new consular appointment, so plan the transition timeline carefully with your new sponsor.
