Align your credentials to SOC definitions
Cybersecurity Engineer roles must meet the specialty occupation standard. Pull the O*NET profile for your target job code and confirm your degree field matches the listed education requirements before applying, not after receiving an offer.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
H-1B1 visa employers must participate in E-Verify to verify your work authorization after you arrive. Filtering for E-Verify-enrolled companies early eliminates employers who can't complete onboarding, saving time on both sides of the process.
Search H-1B1 Singapore jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship so you're not guessing which employers have filed before. Use it to identify active sponsors in cybersecurity before reaching out.
Request the LCA before your consulate appointment
Your employer must file and receive DOL certification of the Labor Condition Application before your visa interview. Confirm the LCA is certified and matches your job title, wage level, and work location before you schedule your U.S. consulate appointment.
Check the prevailing wage for your metro area
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific cybersecurity role and work location. If your offered salary falls below the wage level on the LCA, DOL will reject the application before it reaches the consulate.
Prepare for dual-intent questions at your interview
H-1B1 visa status doesn't carry dual intent protection like H-1B visa does. Consular officers can ask about long-term plans. Have a clear, consistent answer about your intent to return to Singapore and your ties there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cybersecurity Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science, information security, or electrical engineering. Roles where the employer accepts any degree regardless of field can fail the specialty occupation test. The job description and the LCA must both reflect the specific degree requirement.
How does H-1B1 Singapore differ from H-1B for cybersecurity professionals?
H-1B1 Singapore has no lottery, no USCIS petition, and a dedicated annual cap of 5,400 visas that rarely fills. You apply directly at the consulate with your employer's certified LCA. H-1B requires USCIS to approve a full petition and is subject to a lottery when demand exceeds the cap. H-1B1 is also limited to Singaporean nationals and does not carry dual-intent protection.
Where can I find Cybersecurity Engineer jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces jobs from employers with H-1B1 Singapore filing history so you can focus on companies that have already sponsored this visa category rather than cold-applying and discovering later that an employer won't file.
What happens if my H-1B1 Singapore visa expires while I'm still employed?
H-1B1 visa status is issued in one-year increments and must be renewed each time you travel outside the United States. If your visa stamp expires but your status is still valid, you can remain and work in the U.S. but must obtain a new visa stamp before re-entering after any international travel. Your employer should initiate the LCA renewal well before the expiration date.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card while I'm on H-1B1 Singapore status?
Your employer can begin the green card process, but H-1B1 visa does not carry dual-intent protection, which means a consular officer can deny your visa renewal if they believe you intend to immigrate permanently. In practice, many H-1B1 holders who pursue a green card change to H-1B status first, which is explicitly dual-intent, before the immigrant visa process advances.
