Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Senior IT Architect Jobs
Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Senior IT Architect maps to SOC code 15-1299 under DOL's specialty occupation framework. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target title and confirm the degree requirement language before your employer files the Labor Condition Application.
Document your credentials for consular review
Unlike H-1B visa, your H-1B1 Singapore application is adjudicated at the consulate, not by USCIS. Bring your degree certificate, official transcripts, and a detailed employer letter linking your IT architecture qualifications directly to the role's requirements.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with verified H-1B1 visa Singapore Labor Condition Application filings for IT architecture and related technology roles, so you're approaching companies already familiar with the process.
Confirm the employer understands LCA prevailing wage obligations
Many U.S. tech employers confuse H-1B1 with H-1B filing requirements. Your employer must certify the offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for Senior IT Architect in your work location using the OFLC Wage Search before the LCA is submitted.
Time your application around consulate appointment availability
H-1B1 Singapore visas are processed at U.S. consulates in Singapore, not through USCIS. Schedule your appointment only after the LCA is DOL-certified, since the certification is a required document for the consular interview package.
Request annual H-1B1 renewals before your status expires
H-1B1 status is granted in one-year increments, unlike the three-year H-1B. Your employer must file a new LCA and you renew at the consulate each year, so align your employment contract terms with this annual cycle from the start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior IT Architect role qualify for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes. Senior IT Architect is a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a directly related engineering field. Your employer confirms this in the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL. The consular officer will also assess whether your specific degree and experience align with the role's technical requirements during the visa interview.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for IT Architect roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery and no USCIS petition requirement, so your employer files only a Labor Condition Application with DOL and you apply directly at the consulate. The H-1B requires a full USCIS petition and selection in the annual lottery. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 status is granted in one-year increments rather than three, so IT Architect roles requiring long project commitments need annual renewals built into the employment arrangement.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas for IT Architect positions?
Search Migrate Mate for employers with verified H-1B1 Singapore Labor Condition Application filings in technology and IT architecture roles. Most job listings don't specify H-1B1 sponsorship, so searching by LCA filing history is more reliable than filtering by stated visa sponsorship in job descriptions. Focus on employers in sectors with consistent IT architecture demand, such as financial services, enterprise software, and cloud infrastructure.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B1 Singapore visa once I'm in the U.S.?
Yes, but the process restarts with each employer change. Your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL and have it certified before you can begin work. Unlike H-1B portability under AC21, there's no mechanism to start working immediately upon filing. Plan for the LCA certification timeline, which DOL targets at seven working days, when negotiating your start date with a new employer.
What documents does a Singaporean IT Architect need for the H-1B1 consular interview?
You'll need your certified Labor Condition Application, a detailed offer letter from your employer specifying your role and specialty occupation basis, your degree certificate and transcripts, and your DS-160 confirmation. If your degree title doesn't directly match the IT Architect role, bring supporting documentation such as professional certifications, a CV, or a credential evaluation that maps your qualifications to the position's requirements.
