Verify your degree field matches the role
H-1B1 visa requires your bachelor's degree to relate directly to the specialty occupation. For Global Account Manager roles, degrees in business administration, international marketing, or communications typically satisfy this. A general arts degree without relevant coursework can trigger consular scrutiny.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for account management or sales roles in the past two years. Employers already familiar with the H-1B1 Singapore process move faster and ask fewer procedural questions during hiring.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with confirmed H-1B1 visa LCA filing history filtered by occupation, so you're applying to companies that have already run this process for roles like yours. That cuts the time you spend educating hiring managers about the visa from scratch.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file and receive DOL certification of the Labor Condition Application before your consulate appointment. Build at least two to three weeks of LCA processing time into your start-date negotiation so the certified LCA is ready before you schedule your interview.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification document
Consular officers assess whether your Global Account Manager role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Draft a one-page employer letter that maps your degree field to specific job duties, such as strategic pricing analysis, cross-border contract negotiation, or enterprise solution architecture, not just client relationship management.
Check prevailing wage requirements using OFLC Wage Search
Your employer's offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your specific job zone and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using the correct Standard Occupational Classification code for account management before you finalize your compensation discussion, not after.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Global Account Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business administration, international marketing, or a related discipline. The consular officer will assess whether the specific duties, including strategic account planning, enterprise contract negotiation, and cross-functional coordination, require that specialized degree rather than general sales experience alone.
How does H-1B1 Singapore differ from H-1B for Global Account Manager roles?
H-1B1 Singapore skips the lottery and USCIS petition entirely. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate in Singapore after your employer files a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL. The trade-off is that H-1B visa1 doesn't allow dual intent, so you can't use this visa to pursue a green card concurrently. H-1B does allow dual intent and offers a path to permanent residence your employer can initiate while you're working.
How can I find employers who already sponsor the H-1B1 Singapore visa for account management roles?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified H-1B1 LCA filing history, so you can identify employers who have already run this process for account management and sales roles. That's more reliable than asking during interviews, since many hiring managers confuse H-1B1 Singapore with the standard H-1B lottery process.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my H-1B1 consulate appointment?
Your employer must supply a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, a detailed offer letter specifying your role title, duties, salary, and work location, and a support letter confirming the specialty occupation requirement. You'll also need evidence of your own qualifications, including your degree certificate and transcripts, and your valid Singaporean passport for the DS-160 application.
Can I renew my H-1B1 Singapore visa if I change employers as a Global Account Manager?
H-1B1 Singapore status doesn't transfer automatically between employers the way H-1B portability works under AC21. Your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application and you'll need a new consulate appointment before you can work for them. There's no grace period built into H-1B1 for employer changes, so plan the transition timing carefully with your new employer before leaving your current role.
