H-1B1 Singapore Visa Software Development Manager Jobs
Software Development Manager jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship are accessible to Singaporean nationals without a lottery or USCIS petition filing. The annual cap of 5,400 rarely fills, and your consulate interview in Singapore replaces the employer-side USCIS process, making sponsorship faster to arrange than most U.S. tech roles require.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Software Development Manager
Verify your degree aligns with specialty occupation
Software Development Manager roles must qualify as a specialty occupation under the H-1B1 visa framework. Pull the O*NET profile for your job code and confirm it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related field before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to identify employers who've filed Labor Condition Applications for software management roles. LCA history signals that a company already understands the H-1B1 Singapore process and has infrastructure to support your sponsorship without starting from scratch.
Distinguish management scope from individual contributor roles
Job postings titled Software Development Manager sometimes describe a senior IC role with no direct reports, which can weaken specialty occupation arguments at your consulate interview. Confirm the role involves leading engineers and technical strategy, not just owning a codebase.
Ask employers about LCA timing before accepting offers
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before your consulate appointment. That certification typically takes seven business days. Build this into your start-date negotiation so you aren't scheduling your Singapore interview before the LCA clears.
Cross-check your offered salary against OFLC Wage Search
DOL requires your offered wage to meet the prevailing wage for Software Development Manager roles in your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using your job's SOC code before finalizing your offer letter so you catch any wage shortfall before filing begins.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Unlike the H-1B visa, the H-1B1 does not allow dual intent. Consular officers will assess your ties to Singapore. Have documentation of ongoing connections, such as property, family, or financial accounts, ready alongside your technical credentials and employment letter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Software Development Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science or software engineering. Roles that accept any degree, or that function as general operations management rather than technical leadership, are harder to qualify. USCIS guidance on specialty occupation and the O*NET profile for your specific job code are the two benchmarks consular officers apply.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for a Software Development Manager?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition requirement, and a separate annual cap of 5,400 that has never been exhausted. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate in Singapore using your employer's certified LCA. The H-1B requires a USCIS-filed I-129 petition and, for most applicants, lottery selection. For Singaporean nationals in software management, the H-1B1 is typically faster and more predictable.
How do I find Software Development Manager employers who sponsor the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Search Migrate Mate to filter for employers with verified H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history in software and engineering management roles. LCA records are public DOL data, and filtering by occupation code surfaces companies that have sponsored this visa category before, rather than those encountering the process for the first time when you raise it.
What happens to my H-1B1 status if I'm laid off as a Software Development Manager?
The H-1B1 does not carry a statutory grace period under federal immigration law the way the H-1B does. Losing your sponsoring employer generally means your authorized stay ends. You'd need to find a new employer willing to file a fresh LCA and support a new consulate application, or depart the U.S. Discussing this risk with your employer before signing is advisable.
Can my spouse work in the U.S. if I'm on an H-1B1 Singapore visa as a Software Development Manager?
Your spouse can accompany you on an H-4 dependent visa, but H-4 status does not include automatic work authorization. Unlike H-4 spouses of H-1B holders with an approved I-140 who may qualify for an EAD, there is no equivalent pathway for H-4 dependents of H-1B1 holders. Your spouse would need an independent work visa to be employed in the U.S.
