YOUR ROLE
Senior Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Diesel Technician to join our maintenance team in ensuring the safety and reliability of our OTR fleet. In this senior role, you will perform expert-level diagnosis, repair, and overhauls on Class 8 tractors and trailers while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior mechanics.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize computerized diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex engine, electrical, and after-treatment/emissions issues.
- Major Overhauls: Perform complete rebuilds and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, drivelines, and differential units.
- System Repairs: Diagnose and repair advanced air and hydraulic brake systems, steering mechanisms, and suspension systems.
- Preventative Maintenance: Lead and oversee comprehensive PM inspections to ensure all equipment meets DOT and safety standards.
- Mentorship: Provide high-level technical support, training, and guidance to junior-level mechanics and apprentices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate digital records of all repairs, parts used, and labor hours using fleet maintenance software.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA and EPA regulations, maintaining a clean and safe shop environment.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Experience: Minimum of 5–10+ years of verifiable experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic (with 3 years in a senior or lead capacity preferred).
- Certifications:
- ASE Master Technician (Medium-Heavy Truck T-Series) strongly preferred.
- ASE 609 Refrigerant Handling certification.
- Manufacturer-Specific Training (e.g., Ford, Cummins, Paccar, or Freightliner).
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Diesel Technology preferred.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class A CDL and a clean driving record for test-driving equipment.
- Tools: Must furnish a comprehensive set of personal hand tools and a roll cabinet appropriate for the trade.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Exposure to loud noise in an industrial setting
- Must be capable of lifting to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, stooping, and bending are required regularly on concrete flooring
- May work in hot or cold temperatures depending on the season
