Health Data Analyst Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a health data analyst in Louisiana?
Most Louisiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in health informatics, biostatistics, public health, or a closely related field as the baseline qualification. Health data analyst is not a state-licensed profession in Louisiana, so no board exam or state registration is required to practice. Candidates who add a Registered Health Information Administrator credential through AHIMA or a Certified Health Data Analyst certification strengthen their applications considerably, particularly at larger systems like Ochsner Health or LCMC Health.
How much do health data analysts make in Louisiana?
Health data analysts in Louisiana earn a median of about $78,760 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,050 for the lowest 10% to over $128,210 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire health data analysts in Louisiana?
Employers hiring health data analysts in Louisiana right now include Jacobs, Black Box, and Tulane University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's concentration of large nonprofit health systems, academic medical centers, and Medicaid managed care organizations means that full-time analyst roles appear regularly rather than only during expansion periods.
Which Louisiana cities have the most health data analyst jobs?
The cities with the most health data analyst openings in Louisiana are New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Rayville. New Orleans leads because it anchors the state's largest health system footprints, including Ochsner Health and LCMC Health, while Baton Rouge benefits from state government health agencies and LSU Health's administrative operations, and Shreveport draws demand from Willis-Knighton Health and the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
Are there remote health data analyst jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since health data analyst work is desk-based and does not require physical patient contact. About 42% of health data analyst openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly analytics work can be done off-site. Roles focused on reporting, data pipeline maintenance, and population health modeling tend to offer the most location flexibility.
How can I get hired as a health data analyst in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for junior data analyst or health information technician roles at Louisiana's large health systems, where structured onboarding exists for candidates without direct analytics experience. Ochsner Health and LCMC Health both post entry-level informatics and reporting positions that accept candidates transitioning from adjacent roles like medical coding, health information management, or clinical documentation. Completing a Registered Health Information Technician credential through an AHIMA-accredited program at Delgado Community College or Louisiana Tech, or building a portfolio of SQL and Tableau projects using public CMS datasets, gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only a degree.
