Health Data Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a health data analyst in Texas?
Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in health informatics, statistics, public health, or a closely related field, and many senior roles prefer a master's. Texas does not require a state-issued license for health data analysts, but earning a Registered Health Information Administrator credential through AHIMA strengthens your candidacy at Texas hospital systems and managed care organizations. Proficiency in SQL and at least one major BI platform is typically expected before a first hire.
How much do health data analysts make in Texas?
Health data analysts in Texas earn a median of about $122,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,540 for the lowest 10% to over $170,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire health data analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring health data analysts in Texas right now include CVS Health, Texas Health and Human Services Commission, and University Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large integrated health systems and national insurance carriers means both provider-side and payer-side roles are consistently available across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most health data analyst jobs?
Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas post the most health data analyst openings in Texas. Houston's density of medical center campuses, insurers, and health tech firms drives the largest share of listings, while Dallas-Fort Worth's mix of major hospital systems and corporate payer headquarters sustains strong demand, and Austin's growing health tech and government health agency presence keeps it a consistent source of openings.
Are there remote health data analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 19% of health data analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally desk-based and data-driven the role is. Reporting, modeling, and dashboard development positions are the most commonly offered as fully remote, while roles involving direct coordination with clinical operations teams more often require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a health data analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior data analyst or healthcare reporting analyst role at a Texas hospital system or managed care organization, where structured onboarding exists for candidates without deep experience. Baylor Scott & White Health and Texas Health Resources both run early-career programs that bring in analysts with strong SQL foundations and entry-level BI skills. Building a portfolio with public Texas Health and Human Services datasets or completing a health informatics certificate demonstrates practical ability when your resume is light on direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to health data analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to health data analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly.
