Job Overview:

As a paid Healthcare Assistant Apprentice, sophomores will gain a blend of classroom learning and real-world healthcare experience. This program is designed to introduce students to healthcare early while building foundational knowledge and hands-on exposure.

Students will:

• Participate in job shadowing and clinical experiences across multiple healthcare settings
• Support care teams while exploring a variety of career paths
• Attend on-site coursework and training in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College
• Build confidence in a professional healthcare environment
• Begin preparing for industry-recognized certifications while still in high school

This opportunity is exclusively for current high school sophomores who are interested in pursuing a future in healthcare and want to get an early start.

What You Will Need:

• Currently enrolled in high school
• No prior healthcare experience required - this is a learning-based apprenticeship opportunity
• Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
• Willingness to learn in both classroom and clinical environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

What You will Earn:

• Students will obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Students will also be completing dual-credit courses, such as Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Introduction to Psychology from Ivy Tech.
• Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Assistant apprenticeship, students will earn the Employment Honors Plus Seal and an industry-recognized Healthcare Assistant Certificate.
