In-House Counsel – Healthcare
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Job Type: Full-Time | In-Person
Benefits: 200k+ Full Benefits Package
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join an established and growing healthcare organization operating skilled nursing facilities, senior living communities, and related healthcare services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to be closely involved with the business and grow alongside the organization. We are looking for someone who is hungry, adaptable, collaborative, and hands-on.
The ideal candidate has enough experience to contribute immediately but is also open-minded and willing to learn how the organization operates. We are looking for someone who will roll up their sleeves, work closely with leadership and operations, and find practical solutions rather than coming in with a rigid approach.
This is not a litigation-only position. The role combines healthcare law, contracts, regulatory compliance, risk management, litigation oversight, acquisitions, and day-to-day operational support.
Responsibilities
Advise executive leadership on healthcare operations, legal risk, regulatory compliance, contracts, and corporate matters
Provide practical legal guidance to support day-to-day business operations
Manage professional liability, general liability, employment, resident, and other healthcare-related litigation
Coordinate case strategy and manage relationships with outside counsel
Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, management, professional services, real estate, confidentiality, settlement, and other commercial agreements
Support healthcare mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions
Assist with legal due diligence, transaction documents, risk identification, and post-acquisition integration
Partner with Operations, Compliance, HR, Clinical, Finance, and Risk Management
Monitor healthcare regulatory developments affecting skilled nursing, senior living, and post-acute care
Help develop policies and processes that reduce organizational risk while supporting continued growth
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
7+ years of legal experience
Strong healthcare law experience
Experience with skilled nursing, senior living, post-acute care, hospitals, healthcare systems, or similar healthcare organizations preferred
Experience managing litigation and outside counsel
Strong contracts and commercial agreements experience
Mergers & acquisitions experience
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and regulatory agencies
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
What We're Looking For
Experience is important, but mindset is equally important. We want someone who is motivated, flexible, approachable, and excited to grow.
The right candidate will bring strong legal experience without a “this is how I’ve always done it” mentality. We want someone comfortable wearing multiple hats, learning the organization, collaborating across departments, and tackling issues as they arise.

Healthcare Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a healthcare job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on Los Angeles's large academic medical centers, county hospital system, and the dense network of specialty clinics in neighborhoods like Westwood, Downtown, and the San Fernando Valley. Candidates who tailor their application to patient population specifics, such as bilingual skills or experience with high-volume trauma settings, stand out in this market. Networking through local professional associations and community health fairs also opens doors that postings alone don't.
Which companies hire healthcares in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring healthcares in Los Angeles include SCAN Health Plan, Arup, and NBBJ, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles employers range from large public health systems and university-affiliated hospitals to private urgent care groups and long-term care facilities scattered throughout the metro.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though opportunities vary considerably by role since most hands-on clinical positions require on-site presence, while health informatics, medical coding, care coordination, and telehealth roles are commonly remote. About 59% of healthcare openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the city's growing digital health sector. Telehealth and administrative positions at Los Angeles-based health tech companies are the most consistently remote-friendly.
How can I get a healthcare job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through certified nursing assistant or medical assistant roles at community health centers, federally qualified health centers in underserved neighborhoods, or large county facilities that run structured training programs. Los Angeles County's public health network and Kaiser Permanente's Southern California hub both hire entry-level support staff regularly. Volunteering at a local hospital and completing a clinical externship in the city dramatically strengthens local applications.
Which industries hire the most healthcares in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles healthcare roles concentrate in Insurance, Staffing & Recruiting, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city's size, its large uninsured and underinsured population, and its concentration of research institutions and specialty care networks all drive sustained hiring across those sectors.
