INTRODUCTION
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate, and advance faster than ever.
As the Senior Director of Product Yield Enhancement (PYE), this role is responsible for leading Micron’s centralized failure analysis and yield engineering function. PYE operates 24/7 across five sites in four countries (United States, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia) with more than 350 team members. The organization performs electrical and physical failure analysis for new product qualifications, customer returns, escalations, and provides yield engineering and analytics support across all product lines (DRAM, NAND, HBM, emerging memory).
PYE’s work directly supports Micron’s ability to ramp new technologies, resolve customer escalations, and sustain yield at scale. This role serves as an internal thought leader in failure analysis and yield strategy and participates in shaping broader company strategy related to technology readiness and product quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The three primary responsibilities of this role are:
- Define and execute a multi-year strategic vision for PYE, aligned with Micron’s technology roadmap and customer requirements. Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on technology readiness, product quality risks, and yield critical decisions.
- Direct PYE’s 24/7 operations across all global sites, driving standardized methodologies, strong cycle-time performance, and rapid-response readiness for critical escalations and new product qualifications. Lead effective problem solving for customer-facing RMA (return material authorization) root-cause investigations, formal 8D corrective action processes, and qualification support. Ensure PYE’s efforts remain aligned with current and future partner needs, including direct engagement in sensitive communications with key customers and industry partners as required.
- Develop and retain a strong bench of leaders and engineers capable of operating independently across regions. Drive structured career development across both management and technical contributor career paths.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as Micron’s subject matter expert in failure analysis and yield engineering, providing critical data and analysis for new product qualifications, process change verification, and customer communications as needed.
- Own and drive the PYE enterprise capability and lab roadmap, scaling global FA capability, standardizing execution, while supporting internal and external customer commitments.
- Manage internal budgets, including capital expenditure optimization for analytical laboratory sites across all locations.
- Partner with Technology Development, Global Quality, Process Integration, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing to translate failure analysis findings into actionable process and design improvements.
- Drive adoption of advanced analytics and AI-enabled workflows to accelerate root-cause analysis and improve engineering productivity.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in semiconductor failure analysis, yield engineering, or closely related disciplines, including at least 10 years in global leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading large, globally distributed organizations with a consistent record of building and sustaining high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage at all levels of the organization.
