Hse Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hse manager in Texas?
Most hse manager roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or engineering, combined with field safety experience. Texas does not issue a state-specific HSE license, but employers across the energy and construction sectors strongly prioritize the Certified Safety Professional credential, which requires documented experience and a proctored exam. Candidates targeting refining or chemical facilities typically also pursue Process Safety Management training to meet industry expectations.
How much do hse managers make in Texas?
Hse managers in Texas earn a median of about $79,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,380 for the lowest 10% to over $126,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hse managers in Texas?
Employers hiring hse managers in Texas right now include Rosendin Electric, CBRE, and Fluor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of petrochemical facilities, large-scale construction projects, and manufacturing plants means demand is spread across both Fortune 500 operators and regional contractors with active safety compliance needs.
Which Texas cities have the most hse manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most hse manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates because of its energy corridor and the density of refineries, chemical plants, and offshore support firms headquartered there, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from large commercial construction and logistics operations, and Corpus Christi generates consistent openings tied to its active refining and port industries.
Are there remote hse manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. HSE management is fundamentally a site-based role requiring physical inspections, incident response, and hands-on compliance oversight, which limits how much of the work can move off-site. About 0% of hse manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to cover corporate-level safety program development, auditing, or regulatory reporting rather than day-to-day field supervision.
How can I get hired as a hse manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a safety coordinator or field safety observer role with a Texas-based construction or energy contractor, where you build documented site hours toward professional certification. Large Texas operators like refining companies and general contractors in the Houston area regularly post entry-level EHS associate positions. Earning an OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry card before applying gives candidates a concrete credential that stands out, and lateral moves from quality control, environmental technician, or industrial hygiene assistant roles are a recognized route into HSE management.
Where can I find and apply to hse manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to hse manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
