Benefits Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a benefits manager in Texas?
Most benefits managers in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in human resources or business and several years in HR or benefits administration roles. Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a benefits manager, but the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and SHRM certifications are widely expected by Texas employers. Large Texas companies and health systems typically promote from senior benefits coordinator or HR generalist roles.
How much do benefits managers make in Texas?
Benefits managers in Texas earn a median of about $136,930 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $86,550 for the lowest 10% to over $216,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire benefits managers in Texas?
Employers hiring benefits managers in Texas right now include McDonald's, American Airlines, and Omni Hotels, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, large hospital systems, and Fortune 500 corporate headquarters makes it one of the more active markets for benefits professionals in the country.
Which Texas cities have the most benefits manager jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most benefits manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense cluster of energy, petrochemical, and medical center employers, while Dallas draws demand from financial services and retail corporate headquarters, and Austin's rapid tech sector growth has added a steady stream of benefits roles at both established firms and scaling companies.
Are there remote benefits manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they're more common than in many HR roles because benefits administration is largely desk-based and system-driven. About 12% of benefits manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the work translates off-site. Plan design, vendor management, and compliance reporting are the functions most frequently handled fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a benefits manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is landing a benefits coordinator or HR assistant role at a large Texas employer and building toward the manager title from within. Major Texas health systems, including those in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, and large retailers headquartered in the Dallas area run HR development programs that place early-career candidates in benefits support roles. Earning the CEBS designation or completing SHRM coursework while in an entry role signals intent and gives candidates a clear edge over others without formal credentials.
Where can I find and apply to benefits manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to benefits manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to each one.
