Tips for Your Integrated Marketing Manager Internship Search
Apply in the fall for summer integrated marketing manager roles
Large employers open summer integrated marketing manager internship applications as early as September. Waiting until spring means many structured programs are already closed. Smaller companies and co-ops post closer to start dates, so check listings consistently across the full academic year rather than targeting a single window.
Build a portfolio before you send the first application
Hiring teams for integrated marketing manager interns expect limited work history and rely on portfolio work to evaluate candidates. Document two or three complete projects, a campaign strategy deck, a cross-channel content plan, or a brand audit, showing the brief, the approach, and measurable outcomes. Link the work wherever the employer can access it.
Work your campus network and apply directly at the same time
Campus career fairs surface structured programs tied to your university, and recruiters there often move faster for students they meet in person. Professors and career center staff frequently know which employers recruit from your school before roles post publicly. Applying directly to companies running smaller cohorts alongside campus activity widens the pool you reach.
Practice the integrated marketing manager intern screen out loud before you apply
Integrated marketing manager intern interviews commonly include a case or brand challenge where you are asked to propose a campaign or diagnose a marketing problem on the spot. Practice answering these prompts out loud, explaining your reasoning step by step, since interviewers weigh how you structure your thinking as much as the final recommendation.
Target rotational and cohort programs built for new integrated marketing manager candidates
Larger employers run structured integrated marketing internship programs that rotate participants across brand, digital, and integrated campaign functions. These programs are designed for people entering the field and recruit early, often the fall before the internship starts. Identify the programs that fit your goals and apply in the first wave, since cohort sizes are limited.
Set your work-type filter before you start searching
On-site roles are 100% of the integrated marketing manager internships listed here. Decide what you can commit to before you search so you are not sorting through roles you cannot take. Filter by location and work type first, then assess fit on the roles that actually match your situation.
Integrated Marketing Manager Internships: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an integrated marketing manager internship?
Lead with coursework and personal projects rather than work history, since hiring teams expect limited experience at the intern level. Build a portfolio that shows a complete campaign or cross-channel project from brief to results, giving recruiters something concrete to assess. Pair direct applications with campus career fairs, where recruiters often move faster for students they meet in person.
Can an integrated marketing manager internship turn into a full-time job?
Many employers extend return offers to strong interns, but conversion is never guaranteed. What drives it for integrated marketing manager interns is consistent performance on real deliverables, open headcount on the team, and how early you express interest in returning. Position for it by treating every project seriously and building relationships across the team, without counting on the outcome.
When should I apply for integrated marketing manager internships?
Earlier than most candidates expect. Large employers recruit summer interns the preceding fall, sometimes as early as September or October. Smaller companies and co-op programs post closer to start dates, so openings appear year-round. Checking listings regularly rather than waiting for a single hiring season gives you access to the full range of available roles.
Are integrated marketing manager internships paid?
Most professional integrated marketing manager internships in the U.S. are paid. Compensation varies by company size, industry, and location, and listings show it where the employer discloses it. Unpaid internships exist but are less common at established companies. Reviewing each listing directly is the most reliable way to confirm what a specific role offers.
What should an integrated marketing manager internship resume include?
Lead with two or three complete, documented projects rather than work history. For integrated marketing manager candidates, that means a campaign strategy deck, a cross-channel content plan, or a brand audit with measurable outcomes, ideally linked or attached so recruiters can review the actual work. Add relevant coursework in marketing, communications, or analytics, and keep the whole document to one page.
Are there remote integrated marketing manager internships?
Yes. Remote and hybrid roles make up 0% of the integrated marketing manager internship listings here, with the rest on-site. Remote cohorts fill fast, so apply early and filter by work type to see them before they close.
What is a rotational marketing internship and does it apply to integrated marketing manager roles?
Rotational marketing internship programs place participants across two or three marketing functions, such as brand, digital, and integrated campaigns, during a single summer. They target people new to the field and are designed to build broad exposure quickly. These programs recruit early, often the fall before the internship starts, and are competitive, so identify the ones that fit your goals and apply in the first wave.
Can international students get integrated marketing manager internships?
Yes. F-1 students can intern through CPT while enrolled or through OPT work authorization after finishing a degree, and the employer does not have to file anything for either, so many companies are open to international interns. Confirm your eligibility and timing with your university's international student office before accepting an offer.
