Status: Full Time 80 Hours

General Summary:
The Interventional Radiologist will examine and diagnose disorders and diseases using diagnostic imaging and procedures. Responsible for the delivery of age and specialty appropriate medical care through the process of assessment, evaluation, diagnosing, recognition and prevention of adverse events, treatment, and follow-up. Performs responsibilities in four areas of practice – clinician, teacher, leadership, and professional development. Collaborates with colleagues and other professional disciplines to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and value-added patient centered care and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Continuously monitors quality patient care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient care. Possesses excellent communication skills with patients, family, caregivers, multidisciplinary team members, medical staff members, and all employees. Keeps quality and safety in the forefront in the delivery of patient care. Participates/supports the integrated continuum of care of patients within Bayhealth.
Responsibilities:

Provides radiology services using evidence based and substantiated guidelines in a timely manner.

Performs Interventional and other procedures. Recognizes and treats complications during and after procedures.

Responsible for complete review of medical records and communicating with referring clinicians.

Performs CT and Ultrasound guided biopsies and drainages, vascular access procedures, IVC Filter placement and retrieval, Nephrostomy and Cholecystostomy placement, Angiography and embolization.

Performs and interprets the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures.

Reviews and transmits images and information using picture archiving and communications systems.

Communicates examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and families.

Completes all documentation following Bayhealth policy.

Maintains accurate medical records in accordance with Bayhealth Medical Staff. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA, Joint Commission, state, and other regulatory standards. Utilizes the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) to its full capacity.

Participates in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error is high.

Participates in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.

Implements protocols in areas such as drugs, resuscitation, emergencies, power failures, and infection control.

Serves as a teleradiologist for facilities that do not have on-site radiologists.

Adheres to Bayhealth Medical Staff bylaws, rules, and regulations. Creates an atmosphere that promotes and maintains professional standards. Meets and follows Bayhealth rules and regulations.

Treats all customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect, giving careful consideration to the views, opinions and feelings of others.

Maintains a high level of patient satisfaction. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills in dealings with others.

All other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
