IT Architect Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it architect in Kentucky?
Kentucky does not require a state-issued license to work as an it architect, so the path runs through education and employer-recognized credentials. Most Kentucky employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, followed by several years in systems administration, network engineering, or software development roles. Certifications like AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect carry significant weight with Kentucky hiring managers and help candidates move into architecture roles from technical foundations.
How much do IT architects make in Kentucky?
IT architects in Kentucky earn a median of about $89,420 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,980 for the lowest 10% to over $136,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it architects in Kentucky?
Kentucky it architect roles are posted by Amazon, Humana, and Thomas More University and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kentucky's concentration of large healthcare payers, financial services firms, and state government technology programs means demand is fairly distributed across enterprise, public sector, and regulated-industry employers.
Which Kentucky cities have the most it architect jobs?
Louisville, Hebron, and Erlanger account for the largest share of it architect openings in Kentucky. Louisville drives the highest volume as the state's commercial center, anchored by major healthcare and insurance headquarters, while Lexington's university and research ecosystem generates steady demand, and Frankfort's government technology modernization programs round out the distribution.
Are there remote it architect jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than most fields, because it architect work is largely design, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration that transfers well to remote settings. About 43% of it architect openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which is above average for the broader technology sector. Strategic and cloud architecture roles tend to be the most remote-eligible, while positions tied to data center operations or on-premises infrastructure typically require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a it architect in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an architect role from a strong technical foundation in systems administration, network engineering, or cloud operations. Large Kentucky employers such as Humana and state government agencies regularly hire associate-level technology roles and internal candidates who demonstrate architecture thinking get consideration for junior architect or solutions analyst positions. Building a TOGAF or AWS Solutions Architect certification, contributing to a documented infrastructure project, and targeting enterprise IT teams at Kentucky universities or Louisville-area health systems gives entry-level candidates a credible foothold.
Where can I find and apply to it architect jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to it architect jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred location or remote arrangement, and apply directly to each position that fits.
