IT Program Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it program manager in Louisiana?
The path to becoming an it program manager in Louisiana typically begins with a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or business, followed by several years in IT project or program roles. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license for this position, but employers consistently favor the PMP credential issued by the Project Management Institute. State government agencies and healthcare systems in Louisiana also value familiarity with Louisiana's Office of Technology Services standards for candidates pursuing public-sector roles.
Which companies hire it program managers in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring it program managers in Louisiana include Entergy, ENFRA, and Tulane University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's mix of state government agencies, offshore energy firms, and large regional healthcare networks means demand comes from a wide range of sectors beyond pure technology companies.
Which Louisiana cities have the most it program manager jobs?
The cities with the most it program manager openings in Louisiana are New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Metairie. New Orleans leads because of its concentration of healthcare systems, federal contractors, and financial services firms, while Baton Rouge draws heavily from state government IT modernization efforts and the petrochemical industry's enterprise technology needs, and Shreveport's openings are largely tied to regional healthcare networks and military-adjacent contracting.
Are there remote it program manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since it program management is fundamentally a coordination and communication role that translates well to distributed work environments. About 33% of it program manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly this has been adopted across the sector. Planning, stakeholder reporting, and vendor oversight tasks are the most consistently remote, while roles involving on-site infrastructure delivery or classified government programs typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a it program manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior program coordinator or IT project analyst role at a Louisiana state agency or large healthcare system like Ochsner Health or LCMC Health, both of which hire associate-level technology staff and promote from within. Building toward a CAPM credential from the Project Management Institute signals readiness for program management before you have years of direct experience. Adjacent roles in business analysis, IT operations, or systems administration at Louisiana employers provide the cross-functional exposure that hiring managers look for when promoting candidates into their first program management seat.
