ROLE OVERVIEW
We are offering a unique opportunity to learn Strategic Decision Support within the space and defense sector. You will work at the intersection of big data and federal policy, learning to build predictive models that identify where the market is moving before anyone else. This role provides a front-row seat to the Challenger Brand strategy, teaching you how to use data-driven insights to neutralize the advantages of larger legacy competitors.
THE WORK
-
Find the Undervalued Opportunities.
-
Analyze Spire's historical win/loss data from Salesforce to identify the profile of a winnable federal opportunity
- Cross-reference against the full federal market: pull budget justification documents (P-40s, R-2s), GovWin pipeline, and SAM.gov awards to find opportunities that match the win profile but haven't been prioritized yet
- Flag undervalued targets with high win probability the team isn't currently focused on
-
Deliver a force-ranked opportunity list with the analytical rationale behind every ranking
-
Build the Revenue Engine Model
-
Build a conversion model from Salesforce data, stage-by-stage probability, average cycle time, and deal velocity by agency type and capability area
- Produce a rolling revenue forecast by quarter, updated from live pipeline data
-
Model the gap: if the target is $X, what qualified pipeline is required? What activity levels? What accounts?
-
Decode the Federal Budget
-
Map federal appropriations and program budget lines for Spire's capability areas
- Identify growing budget lines and declining ones where Congress and the Pentagon are putting money, and where are they pulling back?
- Surface emerging programs and new starts that align with Spire capabilities before a formal solicitation exists
-
Deliver a budget signal report: the 10 federal programs where Spire should be investing time right now
-
Know the Competition
-
Map the competitive landscape by capability area, who is currently winning contract, programs and awards
- Pull SAM.gov contract award data to track competitor wins, contract values, and expiration dates
- Identify recompete targets: competitor-held contracts expiring in 12–24 months where Spire has a credible shot
-
Build a one-page competitive brief per capability area: who we're beating, who we're losing to, and the analytical case for why we win the next one
-
Tell The Story Behind the Data
-
Every analysis must be delivered with a clear 'so what' the 3–5 decisions leadership should make based on what the data shows
- Present findings to Federal Sales leadership weekly, not as a data dump, but as a structured argument for where to focus and why
- All models delivered in Excel or Power BI, documented so they outlast the internship
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field
- Ability to work approximately 40 hours for the duration of the 8-week program
- Exceptional analytical instincts
- Strong Excel skills required; Python and Power BI are a significant plus
- Ability to turn complex analysis into a clear, concise argument for a non-technical audience
- Operates independently and moves fast
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with CRM data cleanup, Salesforce administration, or SharePoint management
- Power BI or dashboard-building experience from coursework or a prior role
- Familiarity with federal government or B2B sales environments
- Evidence of building or owning a system
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship as a Revenue Analyst
Align your training plan with SOC codes
Your DS-2019 training plan must map to a recognized occupation. Pull the O*NET profile for Revenue Analyst to identify the exact skills and tasks your host employer should document, so your plan clears sponsor review without revisions.
Distinguish Intern from Trainee eligibility early
The J-1 Intern category requires current enrollment in a degree program, while Trainee is for professionals with a relevant degree plus at least one year of work experience. Applying under the wrong category is the most common reason sponsors reject DS-2019 applications from finance candidates.
Verify your host employer accepts J-1 trainees
Many finance and analytics teams assume J-1 hosting means sponsoring a visa directly. Clarify in writing that the designated sponsor organization, not the employer, issues the DS-2019 and carries compliance responsibility, so HR isn't caught off guard mid-offer.
Check whether the 2-year residency rule applies
Revenue Analyst roles funded by a government or international organization, or filled by nationals from countries on the Exchange Visitor Skills List, can trigger the two-year home-country residency requirement. Confirm your eligibility before signing an offer, since a waiver process adds significant time.
Search Migrate Mate for J-1-aligned analyst roles
Not every employer advertising a Revenue Analyst opening has experience hosting J-1 exchange visitors. Migrate Mate filters for U.S. employers and roles that align with J-1 sponsorship, so you spend less time screening out incompatible listings before outreach.
Request a certified training plan before you arrive
Your host employer must co-sign a detailed Training Plan (Form DS-7002) outlining rotations, supervisors, and learning objectives. Get this document finalized and countersigned by the designated sponsor before you travel, since working before your DS-2019 is activated violates J-1 status.

Find Revenue Analyst JobsRevenue Analyst J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category covers Revenue Analyst positions?
Current students doing a revenue or financial analysis placement typically use the J-1 Intern category. If you've already graduated and have at least one year of professional experience in finance, accounting, or business analytics, you'd qualify under the J-1 Trainee category instead. The distinction matters because designated sponsors assess eligibility differently for each, and applying under the wrong category delays or blocks your DS-2019.
Who is actually my visa sponsor if I'm placed as a Revenue Analyst?
Your visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, such as Cultural Vistas, AIPT, or another approved exchange visitor program. That organization issues your DS-2019, monitors your compliance, and is legally responsible for your exchange program. Your host employer, the company where you perform revenue analysis work, is not the sponsor and cannot issue a DS-2019 independently.
How do I find host employers open to hiring J-1 Revenue Analysts?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point, since it surfaces U.S. employers and roles that align with J-1 exchange visitor sponsorship rather than requiring you to filter through general job boards manually. Focus on mid-size companies in sectors with high analyst demand, such as SaaS, healthcare, and retail, where HR teams are more familiar with hosting international exchange visitors.
Does the two-year home residency requirement apply to Revenue Analysts?
It can, depending on your funding source and nationality. If your training is funded by your home government or a U.S. government program, or if your home country appears on the State Department's Exchange Visitor Skills List for business or finance fields, you may be subject to the two-year requirement. Check your DS-2019 and your country's Skills List status before accepting an offer, since a waiver is a separate process that adds months to your timeline.
What should a Revenue Analyst training plan include for J-1 approval?
Your Form DS-7002 training plan must specify phase-by-phase learning objectives tied directly to revenue analysis tasks, such as financial modeling, pricing analysis, forecasting methodology, and reporting tools. Vague plans citing only 'exposure to finance teams' are regularly flagged by designated sponsors. Name the specific software platforms, data sets, and supervisors involved so the plan demonstrates genuine skills transfer rather than routine employment.
